I doubt this as I'd guess some of them will want to stay and work with Tedford.insinceredawg said:Fatters just said the same on Dawgman. Really disappointing if true. We really are going to have the entire Fresno staff + Junior aren't we?

If this is how it turns out that is a terrible start. Not JonDon bad, but not good.insinceredawg said:Fatters just said the same on Dawgman. Really disappointing if true. We really are going to have the entire Fresno staff + Junior aren't we?

Even if he just brought the Fresno staff with him that is a major upgrade in my opinion. Not ideal but lipo. Not being able to land top choices for DC with the alleged budget he has is concerning for sure.Swaye said:

We saved all this money on the head coach to get great assistants!!!!!!!!
Well if we can't afford great assistants this year its ok because next year is a bumper crop of great assistants!!!!
OK we got a steaming pile of shit again and Huff is back.
We're broke. Hired boner on the cheap and filled out his staff on the cheap
Fooled again -

Unless you’re an avid cfl fan or BTP, no one here knew whether Steinauer would be good or not. -
If Orlondo stays in Canada, likely means he just really didn’t want to go back to CFB, but DeBoer misread his interest.
If he goes to another CFB program, it means we are cheap fucks and We aren’t going anywhere until Jen Cohen is gone. -
Well Connerly is quoted as saying he thinks he'll be back, so it's certainly in dispute right now.PasadenaHuskyFan said:

Either way, if we don't shell out for some of these assistants, especially the DC, then that'll be a pretty fucking ominous sign. Deboner is coming in at a salary way below what we expected, while other schools are breaking the market with some of their contracts.
So if we don't land any sought-after guys, it means a) nobody wants to come coach under Deboner, or b) we don't have the money to compete for high-caliber assistants. I'm not quite sure which option would be worse. -
I think we’re cheap fucks and our fat leopard print AD is never going to be fired, so that’s worse than if no one wanted to coach with DeBoer.GreenRiverGatorz said:

DeBoer hasn’t hired anyone I hate yet. Julius Brown was a former top mountain west recruiter and a former db at Boise so he seems plenty qualified to be a DB coach. Grubb may not be a fireworks hire but he knows DeBoer’s system and the fact that he wanted to follow DeBoer north is probably a good sign. Same to the rumored tight ends coach hire. If the Virginia oline coach wants to come across the country to coach with DeBoer without a job description upgrade that’s also a good sign.
-
In isolation sure, no big deal. Orlondo was quoted recently as prizing "work-life balance", so if he stays in the CFL it's likely that that's just due to him being one of the rare breed of coaches who actually cares about his individual and family well-being.OreDawg said:If Orlondo stays in Canada, likely means he just really didn’t want to go back to CFB, but DeBoer misread his interest.

But contextually that'd be a big fucking failure by Deboner. All signs seem to indicate that we were waiting on Orlondo to decide, and if Deboner wasn't able to get a read or answer from him in that period then he miscalculated terribly and wasted two weeks of other potential assistants going elsewhere, and recruiting defensive prospects. -
The only way it’s not a massive fuck up is if he’s got someone else in his pocket that is also a great hire. If it’s Inge it’s a big fuckup. Maybe DeBoner is just being deliberate and wants to give himself every chance to make the right hire, but to me he’s scrambling until proven otherwise. Personally I’d call Daronte Jones today.GreenRiverGatorz said:

Even if it is a fuck up… steinauer apparently hates recruiting. Even if he was a pretty decent coordinator we need the entire staff to recruit, especially since Lincoln Riley is apparently doing everything to can to keep Donte Williams at USC. BTP’s defense was always that Williams as co-DC could pick up the recruiting slack for steinauer. Now that’s not a defense anymore.
And it makes sense for a guy who hates recruiting but isn’t good enough to be an nfl coordinator to stay in the cfl especially if he’s enjoying success on the field there. -
While true, missing out on him if he's good is bad.PasadenaHuskyFan said:

Either way we just watched the girl we were flirting with until 1:50am go home without us and will be desperately looking to see if someone responds to our "u up?" spam text. -
Definitely the thread where we rationalize being sold yet another bill of goods on the program
-
This is what happens when UW is cheap AF and your head coach doesn't have connections at the P5 level.insinceredawg said:Fatters just said the same on Dawgman. Really disappointing if true. We really are going to have the entire Fresno staff + Junior aren't we?

This. Just like in recruiting players, who gives a fuck about rankings. It’s about getting the guys you really want. Most of the time they’re ranked high, sometimes not.UW_Doog_Bot said:

Nobody knows if Orlondo is good or not but it’s pretty obvious he was the target. Missing on your targets sucks. Especially if it was just misreading the situation for the past few weeks. -
Do you prefer “Dollar Tree” Tom Herman?Beno4Life said:

Go get Jeff Choate.

Choate was my favorite Petersen guy the day he showed up at UW. He has a kind of scruffy, tuff yet engaging personality, and showed it was effective at recruiting.HairyBallsDawg said:Go get Jeff Choate.

He and kwat sucked really bad this past year. Not sure why you’d want to overpay for him now.chuck said:

Well, I didn't say that. I was referring to what I thought six years ago.AtomicDawg said:

What he did in one season under Sark means nothing to me though. Zero. -
Word on the Discord is Huff is staying as OL coach
-
Hard to know how much if that is just Kwat's fault, or even Sark's fault, or just the Texas cultures fault. It might take more than one year to improve the culture of a defense at Texas even if they've been getting tons of overrated 4* and 5* guys for the last few years.AtomicDawg said:

But Choate was a great DL coach and is a great recruiter. What option do we have that is better now that we whiffed on the guy for whom we were waiting 2 weeks? -
Huff is the living embodiment of recruiting only matters if you have good coaching and development.
-
-
Perhaps DeBoer is giving Huff another year to secure Conerly and Brailsford and then showing him the door next offseason if the oline performance doesn’t dramatically improveinsinceredawg said:Word on the Discord is Huff is staying as OL coach

I don’t know who but hiring someone currently failing at their job is not the answer.HairyBallsDawg said:

Any coach involved is at fault. They did dipshit things and got dipshit results. Like when a team is trying to run out the clock let’s play two deep safeties obnoxiously deep. Sound familiar?
The defense gave up leads consistently and just wasn’t very good overall. Sucked at angles and tackling among many other things. They make a ton of money now too so you would have to pay Choate more than he is worth. -
If he can land Conerly and Vega then it's worth taking a flyer on him. Grubb is supposed to be a a good OL coach so hopefully he can help.
-
Get Nabou back also. Agbo is my second favorite in state guy behind Conerly, guess he’s gone though
-
DeBoer keeping Huff and Adams probably has more to do with keeping the young WR and OL from portaling while giving them a chance to coach under a new offensive scheme (with a new attitude).PasadenaHuskyFan said:

The fact that we're keeping Huff and dropped Vega means they're liking making a shift on OL philosophy.
