I know what is worse than West Texas - East Arizona - we are about 20 miles east of Willcox. Bowie, AZ truly the middle of nowhere.
This morning we got hit with the storm that killed LA with snow. We had hail, rain, snow and wind and then more wind. 50 mph gusts. No damage but there is still beauty in the desert

I love Arizona and am fascinated by it. On my bucket list is to go Navajo country and just wander around for a few days.
I was in Tuba City on the Navajo Nation reservation a year ago - they were still enforcing only 3 people in a store still. Edit: and enforcing strict mask wearing. I had full 5 bar phone reception but the natives seemed to block internet connections. Talked to a few other people that were mystified by this also. I had t-mobile at the time and they had Verizon. We left 3 days early to go up to another Indian reservation and had no problems with internet.
The Navajos do not White Man's technology chinfluencing their lives, is this true @Swaye?
Internet was bad but how about the smoke signal connection?
Haven't seen any deer lately - methinks it is deer season with all the shots ringing out around here. Neighbor farm dropped some goats - too far to see but the little guys are loud. Before I sold the farm the only time our goats made noise was when they got isolated from the group - used to have to go lead the screaming goat down to the field where the rest were doing goat stuff.
Me and the Mrs started reminiscing about our crazy goats.
They used to play king (or queen) of the hill on that little mound - wish I could have burned the neighbors house down - was easier to sell. Tried to upload a short video of them but the file be too large and I am too lazy to compress it. Last month in Texas will soon be rambling on to Arizona to see a kid and soon to be daughter-in-law. https://youtu.be/fJIFt9AsjqE
Just traveled across Arizona, actually to the middle, I ain't made it all the way yet. Desert is green for the first time in 5-6 trips through this state. Could not find a place to stay that would take us for 2 weeks. Old farts pack this area - sheesh.
Staying at some old folks resort south of Phoenix with 1700+ sites - at least the short term folks are way in the back. This is like Tommy's Holiday Camp for olds. I need to be on the road again
Took the dog for a walk - went by the activity center, heard this as the congregation sang along
well I made it thru New Mexico, Arizona, and now in Nevada - Pahrump. Did not feel like stopping in Vegas, I actually hate Vegas. Too big and no place to stop and set up for a bit. Pahrump is kind of different, gonna use it for hitting up Death Valley and a couple of other places. Stopped in Laughlin for 5 days, Quartzsite for 5 days, Casa Grande for 2 weeks and Bowie for 5 days.
Stopped at Don Laughlin's Riverside Casino for a few hours of spend my money wastefully - what happened to buckets of quarters and pulling on the one-armed bandit? Everything is fancy as shit electronics with flash, bang, boom - so much shit going on you can't concentrate on how much the game costs or how do you win on the machine. After 3 hours MrsIamNotinLebam and I are down about $400 and I sit down with her and she is playing this machine and tells me to play the machine next to her. Mumbling I do - this machine I have no clue about it I win some fancy deal where I get 12 free spins. after about 4 free ones, I win another 8 free spins. The machine is running by itself, I do nothing. Lady on the other side is excited as shit - she says I just hit A few $100 wins and it is still going. I ended up winning $795 by not touching the machine. Took the smile off the machine and cashed out. Lost another $200 before leaving so broke even for 4 hours of gambling.
I do not move very fast - heading to the shambles that is Warshington eventually. Go slow so spring might arrive before I do
Here are some pics of desert and more desert and I am still in the desert just at higher elevation* Sunrise

Stop at the amazing candy/beef jerky store in Beatty. Mind blowing selection.
Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah is interesting. The Clown Motel, not so much.
People forget the Mexican crime boss Ray Romano was banging in Get Shorty was based out of Pahrump.

You had a cousin who met one once
The actual reason I know this is that the National Training Center or NTC at Fort Irwin is about 3 hours from Vegas.
NTC training scenarios imagined a made up Soviet type country invading a neighboring made up country. The Soviet country was called Pahrumpistan or something and I remember my boss telling me about the origin of the name. I was highly disappointed when I found out we wouldn’t be visiting Pahrump.
