Delta Lost $12 billion in 2020

Funny - Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Throbber v2.0 and I were out for a drive and saw a billboard with the jackpot amount. "Hey, we should drop $10...we're gonna be rich!"doogie said:Fuck yes cash in your 401-k have you been reading the headlines???

Got to the store and the line was out the door.
"Fuck it - don't want to wait. Not worth it".
There's a strangely 21st century American ethos tale in there somewhere.....

This is what all the corporate folks are saying. It will last until your competition meets customers face-to-face and steals them, and then everyone will be back in the air again.Swaye said:
Agree. Here at Orkin we are exploring greatly reduced air travel even in a post Covid world. For North American clients we have T&E built on top, but for the rest of the globe that came right out of hide in the contract. Someone in finance realized what our new margins are without travel, and the fact that new clients still pay the same whether we are going anywhere or not. Yeah, business travel will NEVER return to pre-Covid levels. Ever.Doog_de_Jour said:I like Delta and Alaska. Other US airlines can fuck off.
Yeah, I think there is a huge pent up demand for travel, so the airlines and hospitality industries will bounce back.
I’m not as convinced that business travel will ever return to pre-COVID levels though, but I’m by no means an expert.
I'm not giving my business to someone who won't meet with me in person, and I think a lot of people are like that. Fuck Zoom meetings. Air travel isn't something a company wants to spend money on but they're going to find out you have to if you want to be a winner.
I went to Shelton High School and have a lowly bachelor's degree in Econ from lowly UW, though. so you may hear differently from the MBA holders about this. -

Don't waste my time with shit - tell me what your product does, how much it costs and how it can save/earn me money.
MS Team forever. Saves kicking lowlifes out of the office. Ooops...lost internet connection. Well, bye.

And, on the other hand, I do think leisure travel is going to go through the roof. Pent up demand and all - but just as above, I can do bidness from wherever I want and just change my Teams background. So, yes, you think I'm in my office - I'm actually at beach resort getting ready to lose internet connection so I can go down to the pool and knock back fruity umbrella drinks and creep on scantily clad milfs.PurpleThrobber said:

In fact, have already done that.

I thought you went to Shelton Country Day School, where you started the fad of wearing pink Vineyard Vines shorts and the untucked seafoam green oxford.dflea said:

My entire image of you has changed man. -
Are we talking about airline service levels or airline financial performance?
Good services levels do not necessarily lead to good financial results. Southwest has been the financial bell cow of the industry for 40 years and doesn't give you food or first class. Allegiant does quite well without many of the amenities that others have. I agree that Delta and Alaska are solid airlines in terms of service and they happen to be among the best managed airlines. (Hey look, Alaska's top two leaders have certificates/degrees from Foster)
There is a ton of international pent up leisure demand which will be unleashed when borders open up. Business travel though is going to take longer.

Are airlines really going to be stupid enough to require proof of vaccination? I, and many others I know, will not fly if that's the case. We just won't.
Quasi-tug comment, but relevant. -
I hear you. I'm not in a hurry to get the vax; but I (we) are also not anti-vax. I just want to see it roll out for a while. I've never wanted to be the canary.BleachedAnusDawg said:Are airlines really going to be stupid enough to require proof of vaccination? I, and many others I know, will not fly if that's the case. The anti-vax group is a chintresting one. They seem to cross the political spectrum. I know people who are fairly described as close to alt-right and people who border on collectivism who won't touch a vax and will argue with you about it all day if you let them.
