I think this is spot on. Urban Meyer could decide he wants to coach the Huskies and bring every blue chip recruit west of the Mississippi to Montlake and our? program would still succumb to the same behavior after a brief period of success. The last vestiges of the national title-or-bust mentality is slowly getting bred out of the University and the conference. There's only so much of mediocre play and losing to the same teams (Cal, Stanford, & Oregon) in the same stupid fashion a fan can take. It's obvious that the AD doesn't hold the coaches accountable.
The UW AD surrendered a long time ago. Years ago, on doogman, there was discussion of the Marinerization of Husky football. Well, the process is complete. Competing for championships is hard and it also raises expectations. Why bother with that. It's hard! As long as your fanbase keeps spending their money on tickets, replica jerseys, and donations, all is well. Just enough revenue to keep things running.
Quite honestly, I have many other things I can spend my money on and they are all a hell of a lot more fun than Husky football. Detaching myself from this program has also been good for my psyche.
Fuck this team, fuck the AD, fuck the upper campus, fuck Seattle, and fuck King County. We'll never have the type of championship caliber football team that we expect with the clownshow "leadership" on all levels.
The AD will keep doing the same dumbass things year in and year out. I don't even think they expect better results. Just win enough games to keep an adequate number of butts in the seats. They can always brag about player GPAs and graduation rates. That's great, but it would be even better if you were actually winning meaningful games and bowls.
Again, that might be fine for some people in the fan base, but it’s not OK for me. -
I get the response that we really had no choice in playing given that between positives and contact tracing we literally couldn't field an OL ... totally get that.
But the fact that we're even in this situation because of poor planning, etc. from the P12 and whatever broke down within the Athletic Department leading to these positive tests is more concerning to me.
Living in the moment will result in you producing just good enough results to get by in the short-term but will never allow you to maximize your performance over the long haul. -

I'm not judging Jimmy or Jenn because some OL got the Vid as a result his girlfriend attending a super spreader party. It's college; you can't bubble these kids like the NFL. The Pac 12 set was set up to fail in this abortion of a season because the West Coast's politics are what they are. But we? failed to improve upon that. Never mind losing the big bowl games. Losing conference games, often to the same teams multiple years in a row doesn't help with building any kind of momentum for the program. Wins get fans excited. Wins also bring recruits.Canadawg said:

The problem with the playoff team is they didn't really look like they belonged even being pretty damn dominant out west that year
Then the LEVEL UP TO CLEMSON and Pete is a super recruiter bullshit and before you know it you're 8 and 5 with a first year head coach who was a career assistant
There is no plan to sustain the success. iDawg and I railed constantly that it is much easier to stay a loser than to stay a winner and it is HARD to stop being a loser
Give the ducks credit for trashcanning Helfrich and Willie in a hurry so the stench of being a loser didn't set in. Going from Gilby to Ty made us losers and getting excited about Sark proved it
