Love the Golden Turtle buddy. Great looking watch! -
Fix your date.Swaye said:Since @Doog_de_Jour is a FP Journe fan, here's my other one. The Havana dial!

Upgraded my first Seiko after realizing I hadn't worn it since I got the golden turtle. Domed sapphire crystal, sub-style bezel, ceramic bezel insert.

That’s a nice upgrade @BleachedAnusDawg. Very sporty.BleachedAnusDawg said:Upgraded my first Seiko after realizing I hadn't worn it since I got the golden turtle. Domed sapphire crystal, sub-style bezel, ceramic bezel insert.

I think this Seiko looks incredible, and I lust after having a spring drive movement. Problem is it's $6,600 which is insane to me for something with a regular Seiko logo on it.

For that price you’re not that far off from a Rolex.BleachedAnusDawg said:I think this Seiko looks incredible, and I lust after having a spring drive movement. Problem is it's $6,600 which is insane to me for something with a regular Seiko logo on it.

It’s still a nice looking watch tho.
There’s a similar Grand Seiko one around the same price point.

Jesus - I have to think twice paying $8.99 for a sixer of Mickey Big Mouths

Gorgeous. I love made in Japan for so much stuff...cars, hi fi, whisky....I’ll never buy a Japanese watch though. Just has no cache.BleachedAnusDawg said:I think this Seiko looks incredible, and I lust after having a spring drive movement. Let’s say I was a wealthy woman, or had a generous luv-vah that liked buying me expensive baubles...I would totally add a Grand Seiko to my collection and wear it proudly.YellowSnow said:

I have a bit of a watch crush on this one:
-
Grand Seiko makes an incredible watch, but they feel cold to me. No soul. Hard to explain. Very clinical watches.
-
I get it. It's like buying a Camry versus a Mustang. One is like driving an appliance, even though it's probably better engineered.Swaye said:Grand Seiko makes an incredible watch, but they feel cold to me. No soul. Hard to explain. Very clinical watches.

The GSs are a fantastic watch, by any measure, but yes, they just don't "move" me.BleachedAnusDawg said:

Occasionally GS does some fun stuff, like this Godzilla watch:Swaye said:

But yeah, they’re like a fully loaded Honda CR-V with leather seats. -
Exactly this. If watches evoked the feelings of cars, it would be something like this:Doog_de_Jour said:

Vintage Rolex: A gritty purpose built tool
Modern Rolex: Sleek and powerful but approachable
Patek: Those lines! Those lines! Elegant, and timeless.
FP Journe: A work of art.
Audemars Piguet: Classic and stunning. With soul for days.
Grand Seiko: Impeccable in all respects, but my boring ass dentist drives it.
@Doog_de_Jour -
Are there any GS' that at least approach this level of Lexus? Cuz this is one I would drive in a heartbeat (yes I am skipping the LF-A).
Maybe this is the one?
-
The dentist one is funny. Mine drives one of these, but same difference. Has to be Japanese.Swaye said:
