This is making me very, very turgid. God bless Scott Huff.
Unless YOU have proof in HAND...it’s speculation for YOU. ‘Those who know’....meaning YOU are not a ‘THOSE’. I didn’t create the English language but ‘speculation’ is pretty cut and dry. Unless you are an eye witness, YOU are speculating. Word of mouth is not proof.
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive lineman Myes Murao has committed to Washington and will play his college ball for the Huskies.
Murao, the nation’s No. 69 rated player nationally in the 247Sports Composite and the No. 2 center in the country by 247Sports will play his college ball for the Huskies.
“I’m 1000% committed and won’t be taking any other visits, I’m all Washington,” Murao said moments ago. “There were a lot of reasons why I chose Washington but the biggest were the coaching staff and the opportunity I have to make an early impact with Nick Harris graduating after this upcoming season.
“Another big thing, like I told you at The Opening over the weekend was I really like Seattle and the lifestyle there. I feel like I fit in better there then in Los Angeles. I’ve been to Washington three times and man, I just love it in Seattle so I was ready to make my decision and get this done.”
Murao took his official visit to Washington in June but as mentioned, he had already visited multiple times. There was a belief that it would be hard for Murao to leave home with UCLA and USC being the teams to beat but the Huskies were quietly always very high on his list.
“It’s going to be tough to leave home and leave my mom especially,” Murao said. “When I was in Texas, I missed her a lot but living on my own I think is going to be good for me and help me grow up as a man. For me to grow up and mature, I really like like I need to see a new place with a new culture.
“Going to a local school would have been cool but going away is a big step to help me learn how to live on my own. I know it’s a bold move and probably surprised a lot of people but you can’t really beat UW. I love coach Petersen, he’s the best and I’m close with coach Huff (OL coach) as well. I’m so excited for this opportunity and really excited to be a Husky.”
Murao had essentially narrowed his list of schools down to the Huskies and the two local schools close to home, UCLA and USC. He was a national recruit with scholarship offers from schools from all over the country including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
He came in to Mater Dei already a well known prospect and started as a sophomore on the Monarchs 2017 State Championship team that some consider one of the best in state history.
He moved to left tackle last year after playing right tackle as a sophomore but broke his leg mid-way through the year. He’s still not 100% fully recovered and told us following The Opening Finals over the weekend that he’s still not able to plant and push off with the same kind of power and force as he can on his good leg.
“I’ll get there and I still had a great time at The Opening,” Murao said. “I had a lot of fun and made the top five at the end of the camp and that was one of my goals coming in. I learned some new things and got to compete against the best defensive lineman in the country so it was a great weekend for me.”
Murao made the 'five on five, best on best' competition Tuesday and Wednesday working out at right guard. He was recruited to play center but has shown the ability to play all three positions in his young career.
He's one of the most technically sound lineman we've seen in awhile and once he's back to 100% and leans out a little (gained 30 pounds in the last year after breaking his leg) his trademark quickness and lateral mobility will return as well.
Someone who isn’t pour tell me what roof says on this guy.
All SC. Might give UW a pity visit. Maybe.
He'll be a Dawg bro. There's a reason SC has already offered the back up plan to this kid at Center in Drake Metcalf. UW gets Murau. SC gets Metcalf. Book it.

Who would have though Hatchett would be our last commit in a four man superstar OL class?

ONE OF THE BIGGEST COMMITS IN PROGRAM HISTORY
Holy fucking shit.
Then Huff can focus on 21 and 22. The advantage of having your OL class done by July is that you get that early legwork on the next one.
Scott Huff is the man.
Was gunna announce on father’s day but that thing happened.
