Waiting until the games finish is really just for Donte. Beyond that, I think DeBoer is just doing interviews (he did Malloe yesterday) to try and get it right.DodgyBloke said:The longer it goes in hiring assistants do you get nervous we are missing on guys or do we just have to wait until this final weekend of games.
While it would be nice to get the staff figured out ASAP, it’s also not worth rushing just to maybe get 1 recruit. I’d rather DeBoer not hastily finalize the staff when waiting a couple more days could get him a better staff -

Spoadie! Oh my god, I feel like the adults in "It" who had kinda forgot all about that demonic clown and suddenly it all comes rushing back!
But also, who the fuck is Donte Williams? Has he ever actually coached anybody that could play? You'll pardon me if I don't doog out about becoming USC of the last 10 years, signing great recruits and watching them turn into 5th-round draft picks. I remember Bill Simmons's basketball book wherein he argued that if a guy considered great was really so great, why was he fucking traded? Same question: if having Donte Williams is so great, why can't he seem to stay on a staff for more than a year or two? Arizona, 1 year. Nebraska, 1 yr. Oregon, 2 yrs. All in the same role. USC, 2 years. And don't tell he left because he was getting better offers. If he was so great, the school would've paid what it took to keep him.

eh, Lars doesn't know shit. I hate to admit it but the Dawgman mods are actually pretty dialed in when it comes to news within the UW AD. It's the recruiting side where they're clueless cause the coaches feed them bad info and no recruits want to talk to them.backthepack said:

And he lands big time players. That is the significance. There may be a thread or two out there with all the details but I haven’t checked. -
What I see is Will Harris is putting out two CBs that will get picked In the first two days of the NFL draft, while all Dante Williams is putting out feelers and resumes. So yes, at this point I’d take Harris.
And you’re telling me that leaving Oregon after a RB to go to the sinking USS Helton is a step up? Ok. -

Williams raises questions for sure, however Harris is shit at recruiting and it will show in a big way next season.RealRhino said:What I see is Will Harris is putting out two CBs that will get picked In the first two days of the NFL draft, while all Dante Williams is putting out feelers and resumes. One of the worst takes I have seen. Harris is worthless. Provides no value to the program. Does he even coach the corners? He had been focusing on then safeties prior. Our safeties have been worthless for multiple years now.RealRhino said:What I see is Will Harris is putting out two CBs that will get picked In the first two days of the NFL draft, while all Dante Williams is putting out feelers and resumes. This is what people that stroke it to TBSing say. It's the same thing I heard about Strausser at OL. Tell me, is our OL better now than it was in 2016? It was what I heard about Babushka. Tell me, is our QB play and offense better now than it was when he was here? It was what I heard about Brent Pease at WR. Tell me, is our WR play better now than when Dante and Ross were here?AtomicDawg said:

Recruiting means fuck all if you can't fucking coach. The performance on the field isn't just what matters most, it's ALL that matters. And none of Donte Williams's corners have performed.

You have a point with Strausser .The line play has not been better. I could argue that his best players weren't recruited by him though. Adams was a Sark recruit and McGary needed Pete to come in home and close him from going to Oregon State. Hilbers and Harris were good finds but for every one of them you get a Wattenburg, James and a Sosobee. Remove 2016 and the offense wasn't much different between Smith and Hamdan. After that was JonDon. Everyone knew that was a bad decision. Lastly, Pettis was indeed a Pease guy. Ross was Sark. They both excelled as athletes under Hamdan. Bacellia and Fuller were Pease guys. They both were underwhelming. Your argument sounds good until viewed under a microscope which is what this site does and why we hate everyone.RealRhino said:

OK. Safety play has been an abortion for years. McDuffie has been our best cb since setting foot on campus as a true freshmen so don’t tell me Harris developed him.
It’s not all about getting the most highly recruited guys. It’s about getting the guys you want with physical traits and developing them. None of these guys below look like Dbs
For a top 25 program.
Williams. Hasn’t developed.
Irvin. Hasn’t developed
Hampton hasn’t developed. And doesn’t play even when he is the only fucking safety to hit someone over the past two years.
Turner hasn’t developed and is the worst uw safety of my lifetime.
Fabuclanananan. Nothing.
Powell probably next man up and may be okay.
Mckinnie who admittedly sucked in coverage at us found a home at Utah and started a bunch of games and looked like a Pac12 safety for the conference champs.
We have gone from highly recruited guys waiting in the wings chomping at the bit like Taylor and Murphy to take over Jack shit.
Look deeper. I want williams because he lands guys at all positions (not just db) and is amazing at getting guys onboard. He needs an additional db expert on staff most likely as there are 5 on the field at a time. Harris is not that guy. Doesn’t land players nor does he develop guys.

Hopefully it would motivate them. Kwat didn’t have his massive assistant salary because he was a recruiting machine. It’s because for a time he was so good at what he did it made him hard to replace. Different people on the staff are expected to be have different strengths and weaknesses. Perform and get paid. Or don’t.godawgst said:
