It would help our pass rushers to call a few more pressure packages and a few less 6x DB formations.
Smalls looked slow and not very instinctive on a few plays, but we also rush 3 or 4 against 5 blockers on 3rd and long - prime pass-rushing downs. That doesn't help our defensive ends who are measured by their ability to get sacks when they're left on double team island on downs where every other program in the world sends pressure.
I feel like Smalls is taking some unnecessary heat here. He hasn't been amazing but he's played solid for the 7? games he's played
No he hasnt. And he's behind McDonald who also has done nothing
I'm sure you know this but ill remind you that for most plays as a defensive player you don't want to be noticed. 81% of the time you get noticed on defence by screwing up.
Last year he was noticeably around the qb alot which bodes well

No he wasn't. And in the games he started (Furd) he was driven off the ball 50 yards by the OT.
We had this debate in the offseason. All his tackles averaged to 4.5 yards down the field. As a DE that means youvd lost contain. Think he is looking for sack number 1 as well.
He will get better and I hope he gets a lot better, but in 7 games he is currently a JAG

Well I agree with what you said. I think he's been solid overall though and I could see him still getting it to another level this year
I focused on him towards the end. He didn’t look good to me, but I didn’t watch the whole game.
He needs to be humbled and know he’s not going to be any good unless he works at it. His high school coaches all failed him and he loved and believed the hype.
Cooper McDonald starts over him. 5 star prospects should be making noise by year two.
Like I said at that Woodinville-Kennedy game from 2019... During pre-game warm-ups Smalls struts out to midfield and just stares menacingly at the Woodinville players, and the Woodinville guys didn't seem to pay it any mind.
By halftime, Woodinville was ahead 31-7 and Smalls was JAG.
I completely agree with Roadie, he needs a Come to Jesus Moment badly in order to maximize his above average physical skills
Yep, I remember you posting about it. Kind of like when you watched Sirmon and said he wasn’t very good, the tbsers were a little salty. A five star front 7 player from Washington should be absolutely dominating. Kennedy had a couple other guys on defense that had D-1 offers and a couple FCS kids too. I don’t get how they had such a shitty defense.
I thought Smalls looked okay last year. He belongs, but I don’t see an elite player and never really have.
He hasn't even come close to showing that he was warranted as 5-star designation. Elite talent generally shows up pretty quickly. I got a little nervous when the DDY crew was on his jock harder than Sorel. Impossible to meet the hype. He doesn't appear to be very quick off the line. I will LIPO
Comments
Just ask his Fellaters in Chief, DDY and Coker.

It’s “you’re killing me, smalls.”

Hope this helps.
