Has an ostensibly major football program ever been cucked as hard as UW is right now?

If I were you, or any other UW fan, I would be pissed.

Some of the blame lies with the SEC, Big-12, etc who care so much that they decided that not playing football in the fall was worse than death. They’d rather have a season that looks like the dumpster behind the discount Chinese seafood market I bought lobsters at one time. A lot of blame for Larry and the Pac-12, they decided to be the Big Ten’s bitch and then waited until the pandemic got worse to realize they need that money as badly as the SEC does.

For Washington the blame is with the football program. AD, coaches, support staff, players. They needed to keep 7 OL, 4 DL, 1 QB and whoever else to field a team. I’ll give them credit for playing with fewer than 40 against Stanford. It was already too late at that point. They knew what they had to do and didn’t. Washington’s football budget isn’t at a disadvantage to SC’s or Oregon’s, they just fucked up. Inexperienced staff? Players who don’t care enough? No idea, probably all of those.

Be livid. Any sane person would. Even me. Shit, I’m mad at them - now Oregon’s asterisk labia trophy has an extra asterisk because of them.

This is stupid for many reasons as Grundle points out but if UW really had less than 40 for Stanford then the other half of the roster would be back by now.
I have no idea what he disagreed with me on, let alone the many reasons you mention.

I went back and counted through the participation report. It was a grand total of 46 total players used against Stanford if you include walk ons and specialists. Maybe they decided to use 17 fewer players for other reasons. I’m not too familiar with Washington’s roster, feel free to check my work: https://gohuskies.com/sports/football/stats/2020/stanford/boxscore/18642

If half the roster would have been back that wouldn’t have helped if there weren’t enough OL.

The worst (best) is yet to come when clemson/nd force the semi to be moved and Oregon gets fucking Indiana (with backup qb) or nwestern in Pasadena

Here's Mario's quote after the game "Cristobal said Oregon had "54-55" scholarship players available today."

First very forunate on their part to be 1 maybe 2 guys above the 53 scholarship players limit.
2nd, if this rips thru their program like everyone else's hard to see how they would have enough players to play in two weeks as it's only goint to get worse before it gets better.
3rd. Because it's them it won't, the Rose will cave to public pressure relinquish the CFP to Jerry's world, and as a get back the Rose Bowl will be played Saturday Jan 2nd where Oregon will beat either Northwestern or Indiana won't matter who.

JImmy PC'ing Oregon to play and win the Pac-12 CCG and then seeing Keith Taylor tweeting thumbs up for repping the North leaves a real crappy taste in my mouth.

We are playing the Nice Guy Pete way, meanwhile their AD, current, former, and even incoming recruit takes shots at us or flashes the upside down W every chance they get.

Until we start caring about beating them the way they care about beating us (they don't call it Hate Washington week for nothing) we are going to be the beta to the Alpha as it has been for the last 25 years. Phil Knight is going to leave hundreds of millions if not a Billion to the Oregon AD when he passes away, probably along with Nike stock as well, which has done nothing but go up like a rocket ship for a quarter century. Having the financial tools to stay on top of UW is not a problem for them at all going forward.

UW as an organization doesn't care so why should we?

So we’re ok with Covid ball allowing us to win the North w/o beating Oregon the week prior. But now we are all salty in the vagzeen because Jenn “gave away” the title to Oregon because Covid ball. JFC we? Are a pathetic fan base. Man the fuck up and beat Oregon on the field where it matters.

    Hi there.

We? openly mocked the hell out of the north title. No one was "okay" with it. The whole thing was a joke.

But joke or not you don't hand that opportunity to your biggest rival. Play with 11 kids, play with all walk ons if you have to. Who gives a fuck if you get ass blasted? 3-2 North Champions who gutted out a game majorly shorthanded beats the hell out of 3-1 opting out of a bowel and watching your rival win the conference.
So it’s a joke we won the north and now we’re flipping out about 3-2 OR beating USC? Come on, Bud.
No we're flipping out that we laid down and let Oregon win the conference championship.
Again, where is the proof that we laid down and had a viable path towards playing in the title game ? Feels to me like we’re picking the wrong fucking hill to die on here.
As I said to Teq in another thread.

"Convince the conference to push the game back to Sunday so you could get your guys in there. Convince the county to make an exception on contact tracing. Go scorched earth publicly against both if they aren't willing to help until they are willing to reconsider.

    Play DL at OL.

    Play walk ons.

Show some damn fire and passion and pride at some level.

Seriously anything would have been better than casually stepping aside, offering Oregon your spot and declaring them the conference champions if they win."

We chose the path of least resistance. Like always. It's who we are.
Wow. That would have been so satisfying to play DL and walk ons at OL just to keep Oregon out of the championship game.

You know what that sound like to me? Caring more about Oregon losing than UW winning. I think this might be the OG definition of a Doog, but its before my time.
    I love you.
Someone’s gotta push back on this bull shit. I’ve seen more OG REAL dooging in the past week than my entire 4 years here.

A REAL Doog cares more about Oregon losing out on something than UW winning. Fucking pathetic.
Fans care that the organizations they patronize with their dollars and time care at least remotely as much as they themselves do with that organization's success. Part of that dictates the spokespeople of said organizations must at least do performative acts to communicate their deep empathy with their fans.

UW AD is not incapable of grasping this, they almost certainly do. So, the actions and words of the past two weeks can be taken as virtue signaling, if nothing else. And what those virtues, the measures by which the organization will be deemed a success or failure, they are signaling they most value are not the values of the fans on this board. They have estimated that caution, propriety, effeteness are the virtues most esteemed by their desired demographic.

At least 0-12 was earned on the field. This is worse and this abortion of a season is worse. If you didn't give a shit about competing for anything then why did you bother playing any games?

Next year I hope we really do send delegations to forfeit our games. It would be more manly than this.

they could live stream the delegation forfeits on GoHuskies.com

    what the fuck is this?
Between this and Lake's comments, and the actions for the last 6-8 weeks that led to all of it, I now firmly believe that the UW Football Program has lost all sense of itself and what it means to compete at the highest levels.

You know how I know that we have a problem in that Oregon cares way more about football than UW? 14-2. That's how.

UW trying in vain to field a team to play in the PAC 12 FS Championship Game, to keep Oregon out of it doesn't fix our? Oregon problem. Pete fucking away the Oregon game 2 years in a row has far more impact on our trajectory vis-a-vis the Ducks than this 2020 shit show.

    BONEM 2021 or GTFO.

46 players playing is very different from only 46 being available.

You’re wrong to focus the blame on how kids got infected or contact traced out instead of how the rules were set up in the first place and how little uw did to push back against the rules as well as the season being canceled in the first place.
