ULOFOSHIO

I agree it has played out long enough and Gregory needs replaced. I get that the position coaches make the personnel decisions. Gregory is Petersen's guy though, and Pete supervised him while he created the mess we see.sonics1993 said:Pete does not pick the starters or decide the rotations, the position coach makes those decisions. Since we know Gregory will never leave, why not make him special teams full-time and have Kwait coach ILB?

If I have my facts straight, FSU are paying Slick Willie 17 million to go away. And we are stressing over a $500,000BeerThirty said:pretty sad to hear that $$$ is an issue.

Any idea how many snaps Ulofoshio played when compared to Wellington and Manu?

And yet he could finish 9-4FirePete said:

I don’t really care about that and don’t think it’s of much importance. A little bit, but Ulofosio and others have played enough to get some experience. The problem was waiting so long to get them in this year. It cost us a game or two.FirePete said:
dude pete is damaged goods for not benching the seniors earlier. at least going in to the next year we would have had a more experienced roster with playing timeRoadDawg55 said:
It really is so odd that he didn’t even get a fucking chance until a week ago. He can run, he can hit, and he plays with passion. I suddenly feel better about ILB next year. We fucked up the playing time situations so badly at WR and ILB. That can never happen again.NorwegianHusky said:I said this in pre-season. It's fucking amazing that I can tell this in Europe, and Petersen can't see it on the fucking practice field because his head is so far up his ass.
Next year is next year. I only care about the current year. The future is for doogs. -
I’m a little concerned that Lake and other coaches really praised Wellington before the season and commented on how they wouldn’t miss BBK much. It shows they don’t really have a grasp on their personnel. Then you factor in the Cam Williams experiment and the WR situation and you have more examples of that being the case.
-
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ah You is better than most, it not all of the guys you listed. There really is no excuse for having LB’s this bad. We basically just plugged and played Beavers and BBK when Victor went down a few years ago.bananasnblondes said:If Ulofoshio truly emerges as a solid ILB (I'll give it more than 1 game to crown his ass), that will be huge for next year. Then you just have to find one more guy to step up between 4* Sirmon, 3* Tafisi, 4* Calvert, 4* Hemuli, 4*Ngata, and 3* Tupitala. Theres plenty of TBS talent there. No excuse for not seeing a huge upgrade in ILB play next year no matter who the coach is
Same for Victor and Bierria stepping in their R-Soph years. -
Petersen has trust issues. Like, way too fucking much of it. Someone needs to tie him to a tree in the woods or something and maybe then he can doubt his fellow man.sonics1993 said:Pete does not pick the starters or decide the rotations, the position coach makes those decisions. I have a hard time believing Lake and Kwat dont have as much input in the rotation as Gregory...sonics1993 said:Pete does not pick the starters or decide the rotations, the position coach makes those decisions. Don’t know of any head coach in college that picks starters or the rotation. This isn’t the the NFL, there is so much on the plate of a head coach that they don’t have time to full evaluate each position and pick who should start and how many plays each player should get.doogville said:
Maybe the head coach — you know, the guy in charge of everything — should take even a passing interest in which players play.sonics1993 said:Pete does not pick the starters or decide the rotations, the position coach makes those decisions. there should be enough tape to show that some players should not be playing at allsonics1993 said:

The big takeaway here is that insiders are turning on Gregory. It isn’t just us shitposting from our dads’ basement.sonics1993 said:Pete does not pick the starters or decide the rotations, the position coach makes those decisions. All Pete does is endlessly talk about how they put on the tape, evaluate guys in practice, etc.sonics1993 said:

I don’t need Pete to be micromanaging minutes played. But if he is half as good a coach and evaluator as he thinks he is, then it’s insane that he is not breaking down the linebackers with lake and kwat and saying something to the effect of “kyler manu is dogshit. Get him off the field and play the younger guys.”
This is like the bare minimum we should expect. If, after 4 losses, he’s not spending a TON of time talking with his coaches about positional talent and who is getting playing time vs who should, then run his ass. -

@sonics1993 random question but do you know of any players who have made it known to the coaches they plan on transferring/leaving the team.
Also, who do you think are the best bets to be our starting ILBs next year? -
I saw manu and Wellington in there for really simple shit like run in a straight line directly at their quarterback.
I saw a lot of Ulo and Sirmon in there most do the game.
Blows it has to come against beavlet but I guess with all the pressure off Jimmy finally got over himself and changed some shit for the better. -
Of course he evaluates the tape and is in the meetings but it's really not that simple. It's easy to say Manu and Wellington suck but have you seen anything from Sirmon and MJ to over take them because they both have been playing quite a bit as well and they both have struggled as well. And the notion that we should even think about firing Pete is hilarious, in our down year we will probably win 8 games.doogville said:

I know of some players considering it but only one I know for sure is gone. With the transfer portal, players don't have to tell the coaches anymore so coaches can be caught off guard just like the fans. To early to predict starting ILB next year with summer and fall practice still to go, along with off season workouts.bananasnblondes said:@sonics1993 random question but do you know of any players who have made it known to the coaches they plan on transferring/leaving the team.

It changed a while go, Manu has barely played the last few games and Wellington's snaps have decreased as well.haie said:I saw manu and Wellington in there for really simple shit like run in a straight line directly at their quarterback.

This. I know he has a lot on his plate, but he also watches the film. The film would show you that these guys suck and there could be benefits to playing other guys. He’s not too busy to notice that.doogville said:

Moving Many outside in the Oregon game, where he played the 2nd half was a schematic thing. I have to believe both Lake and Kwat were aware of it and had something to do with it.

I mean based on your comments it looks like this isn't just a "down year." It looks like recruiting is turning the program into a 7-9 win venture.sonics1993 said:

I think a lot about the future will depend on what players come back, if Pete hires a real OC and who USC hires as a head coach but make no mistake about it, Washington is not hiring a coach better than Pete and i’m surprised some fans actually think that.haie said:

I agree that UW isn't hiring Urban but I disagree that they can't hire a coach better than Pete. If he can't win the conference in the next 2 seasons then he isn't a good coach by a lot of team's expectations in the Pac 12, not just UW's. -
I’m curious who do you think Washington could get to replace Pete that would be better than him?haie said:
