Oregon Week!

This is my point exactly. It turns into a dick measuring contest over who has better ski resorts, wineries, weed, breweries, mountain ranges, coastline, beaches, hiking etc. Now imagine living in fucking Dallas, Houston, Atlanta etc. for a bit and realizing how pedantic that argument is when you have (almost) none of those.YellowSnow said:
I have to go with Oregon from a geological / topography perspective. I prefer Bachelor to any of the WA ski resorts although Seattle is way closer to Whistler. Oregon's wine country is way better than Washington's. Oregon coast is better too. The Bend / Sunriver area is fantastic.creepycoug said:
Washington, of course.CaptainPJ said:
So who won?!!creepycoug said:You all laugh, but this was a real live debate over at Doogman years back. It morphed into a state level debate where people were comparing / competing over which state had the better geographical topography and greater natural beauty. CastlerockRon/royotis was throwing down for Washington, arguing that Oregon just didn't have an answer for Mt. Rayonier. There were protracted arguments between morons over whether Olympic National Park was better than Crescent Lake, etc. etc.
This literally went on for months and people were taking it seriously.
Lake Chelan was the tie breaker. The Oregonians had no answer. -
Eastern Oregon's got Bend (technically central but east of the mountains so whatever), Steens Mountain, the Alvord Desert, the Wallowas, the Elkhorns, Newberry, the Oregon Outback, and the Columbia River also... The list goes on. For outdoorsy, Eastern O has Eastern WA licked.GrundleStiltzkin said:
Heh, was about to come say the opposite. Other than Bend/Redmond, Eastern Oregon sucks in my opinion. Difference being no Columbia River to moisten up the joint.CallMeBigErn said:One thing is certain, Eastern Oregon>>>>Eastern Washington and it's not even close. Love me some Eastern Oregon.

All that is true. Smith Rocks and all that are very cool.CallMeBigErn said:

That said, my favorite land area anywhere is north central Washington and the greater Chelan Valley. That area, which is the analog to Canada's Okanogan, is heaven on earth for me.
Glacier carved fjords are cool af. -
Washington has Portland and Seattle. Oregon has bend. Washington wins rather easily.
-
Disagree...if Washington has both Portland and Seattle, they lose rather bigly.haie said:Washington has Portland and Seattle. Oregon has bend. Washington wins rather easily.
