Vega Ioane, 2022 3* OL, Graham (Graham-Kapowsin), WA (respect his decision)

How many really good local O/L recruits have left this area in the last 3 years? The narrative that huff-n-puff is a good recruiter is total bullshit. Boner needs to evaluate this and make a move to bring in a solid O/L coach-recruiter. I'm sick of this crap. There was a picture of boner, huff and Vega at that infamous home visit and you could see on Vega's face he just wanted these guys to leave.
-
Huff (and Jen) needs to go
-
Huff had two good years. When a coach is getting guys who were obviously prioritized and for whom the competition is good and elite programs, he is recruiting well.
But...We've seen with the other position groups and assistants that it was always Petersen who was carrying recruiting as the star ratings were climbing. His ace staff members just had to identify the guys who were enamored with Pete and work that angle.
I'll forever wonder about the truth of why he was retained. It's the only thing Deboner has done so far that really leaves me scratching my head. -
Was keeping Junior Adams any different than retaining Huff based on what we saw from the WR's the past couple years?chuck said:It's the only thing Deboner has done so far that really leaves me scratching my head.
Or bringing along six assistants from Fresno State?
Or hiring a guy who hasn't coached on the West Coast in a decade to be the program's "in" with the Polynesian community?
DeBoer's track record indicates he's probably a pretty good coach, but I don't get the sense he has a good feel for what it takes to thread the needle to be truly successful at UW.

Adams is gone. The new guy got what he wanted but wasn't offered. I'll give a passing grade on that.FireHisAssNOW said:

Also no issues with his other hires. It's obvious the checkbook was never open as far as we were led to believe, so he opted for guys he knew he could work with. -
Let’s be honest, even if uw got the kid. He would still be a soft piece of shit under Huff. Dude can’t coach

Bye. See ya

God's plan?

As pathetic as it sounds, we will get at least two of those guys when they transfer. They will probably transfer because they suck, but still.

Thats....concerning -
He won't be there more than 2 years.

Agbo and Nabou are gonna get recruited over by next year. Vega less so because Franklin isn't as ruthless as Sark and Jimbo.RoadDawg55 said:As pathetic as it sounds, we will get at least two of those guys when they transfer. They will probably transfer because they suck, but still.

What part of 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, 8-4, 9-4, 3-2, 5-7, fired by USC and fired by the Falcons indicates Sark is ruthless?KrunkJuice said:

Just thought of it now: My policy as the coach would be in-state guys don't get to transfer back. Fuck 'em, let 'em go to Oregon State or Fresneck or join the other Ford at Idaho (St.?). You leave chasing clout, fuck off when you come crawling back. You aren't who I'd want, anyway.RoadDawg55 said:As pathetic as it sounds, we will get at least two of those guys when they transfer. So you would tell good players that would upgrade our roster to fuck off because you were butt hurt they didn't pick UDUB out of highschool?RealRhino said:

Yup. #1, they probably aren't upgrading the roster that much. If they were that good, they'd stay where they are. #2, if they fall for some of that bullshit that makes them think it's better at PSU or Oregon or whatever, and then they quit when they don't get the instant gratification, I'm not sure they're the kind of serious player I'd want on my roster anyway.DawgtillDeath said:

I don't want in-state kids thinking, "Oh, I'll try to make it at Clemson, and if I don't, no big deal, I can always just come back to Washington. I'm not interested in being a safety school for these guys.
-
The thing you've ignored in your posts on this subject is that transfers aren't happening for the same old reasons. It's now free agency and players who are upgrades to almost any roster are taking part in it.RealRhino said:

What you're really saying, given the new environment, is that you don't want players who follow the best offer rather than committing ti a program. I'm afraid that's not going to be a viable approach anymore. The programs willing to play that game can and will buy their way into contention. -
Sark is getting fired during these guy’s redshirt season. I doubt he makes it to next year.
-
We’ll never forget Sark’s magical 8-4 campaign….
-
I’m not convinced saying that local players that leave aren’t welcomed back is a good idea …
But I’m also not convinced that there aren’t valid points within the take -
