This was all probably Pete's idea. Let's not forget, hes the same asshole who brought a purple shower curtain to the sideline to hide his play calls from graham.
Why are people acting like someone can't finish a game with an injury but still be too hurt to go later in the season? Delano Hill fractured his hip last week and finished the game and now he's on the IR. We have no idea how severe it is. But it if it's even bordering on playing or not and he doesn't want to risk his career while playing banged up, how can we blame him?
Dude shut the fuck up. It's a hip flexor strain! It's not a career threatening injury and he looked perfectly fine in pre-game warm ups. No limp, no nothing. He was healthy enough to play and give it a go and chose not to. No team trainers or doctors held him out. He bitched out on his teammates. Simple as that.
There is always a thread of truth in every story
Here’s how it goes.
Rapp has a sore hip from when Joho McIntosh tried to kill him in that one game ( @RoadDawg55 might remember which one) Nbd. Everyone is fucking sore and has wounds at the end of the season. It’s not anything other than typical season wear and tear.
Rapp and the coaches continue to prep to play Osu.
A few days ago, maybe over christmas, someone in his family sees others sitting out of their shit bowl games (or maybe a “family friend” passes along some advice) and offers the idea of sitting out.
Rapp tells lake he wants to sit out, says his hip/leg is hurting but everyone knows it’s to protect nfl draft. He’s been going to the trainer for it weeks for his hip so the alliby checks out though.
Lake compromise is dress out for the game, go through warmups, think about it while in uniform in the stadium and see if you change your mind. If not we will tell everyone it’s an injury so everyone can save face.
Rapp pusses out.
Maybe Rapp was or wasn’t the difference in the overall outcome of game, but the secondary looked completely different and the replacement safeties played poorly to say the least.
I mean if a coach never wanted a top recruit again, he could ban players who sit out bowl games from attending pro day...but that’s about all coaches have as far as leverage and would be terrible from an optics perspective
I cannot imagine Pete would let Rapp watch from the sideline if he wasn’t legitimately injured. He’d send him to the front door to buy a ticket.
Position (and assistant) coaches often protect players from the wrath of the head coach. They hide your weed, skipping classes, banging of tutors, coming back after curfew, and generally play the good cop to Head coaches bad cop.
Lake is the cool guy recruiter, he would cover for Rapp.
Rapp probably did have an injury but could have played... but was worried he would tweak it bad hurting his draft stock which is bullshit. End of story.
This. It's the freaking Rose bowl. If you don't think his draft prospects played a role you're FS.

haha the sign stealing. What a useless thing.
The massive competitive advantage that no one ever thought of besides Todd Graham who just coincidentally happened to have a son who was a sign-stealing savant. And yet when the tremendous success was realized from this ingenious master plan, no one else in college football replicated it or hired an army of sign-stealing analysts.
Oh wait, because trying to decipher the other teams signs then at the last second signal changes to the defense is fucking retarded and leads to confusion and blown coverage to the tune of having the worst pass defense in college football history.
Lots of bullshit speculation here, even for a board that specializes in bullshit speculation. I’m inclined to give Rapp the benefit of the doubt here until someone confirms otherwise. I don’t see why he’d try warming and suiting up as some charade when plenty of players have no problems coming out and announcing well in advance that they won’t play. I also don’t see the need to slam a guy who has been nothing but an absolute legend for us for all three of his years without actually knowing if he chose to sit out or not. LIFPO you cowshits.

hey fucktard if you expect us to act like rational adults and make judgements after hearing all the facts. All i got to to tell you that you not going to last long here. s/o @HeretoBeatmyChest
business decision, can't live like all ya poor ass peasants
This is a trend that I find disturbing. It's rational and I understand it and I don't have a ready argument to offer. But, it threatens to ruin the bowls if it becomes a "thing", which it arguably already is.

How is he going to punish Rapp now?

Honestly trying to hide them was even dumber.
