Nobody forgot. There is a big, big difference between a guy like Carter and a modern-day religious fundy.

Carter was born and raised in the south a bazillion years ago in a culture of going to church and being a decent human being in accord with basic Christian principles. Despite that baggage, he also graduated in the top 10% of his class at Annapolis, and wasn't ever accused as an adult of diddling the little girls in Plains.

He was a shitty President by most accounts, but he was no Ted Cruz, much less the white trash rabble that support Roy Moore. More than anything, I think Jimmy appreciates the concept of separation of church and state.

The bananas who've overtaken the republican party, the people Trump secretly still laffs at, don't.
