I’m from up there and have been down in LA since 2009..it’s a great place to live dispite what the sentiment in the Northwest is about the region. As a few people have mentioned there are plenty of advantages as a USC alumni in Southern California. Just like for UW grads in Seattle. I'd say UCLA and USC are comparable. However the LMU's, Cal State Schools (Northridge, Riverside etc), LBSU's, Pepperdines etc don't hold as much clout as USC/UCLA. It's all networking. There's a reason that the Mater Dei's, Campbell Hall's, of the world funnel kids to USC..it's the same reason kids go there for film/music. They've got a ton of money and strong alumni networks.

Obviously a lot of midwestern kids end up at ND so the Midwest will have the largest percentage. But according to the ND alumni association it’s not as many as you would think. About 35% live in the Midwest. About 25% live in the Northeast. About 15% live on west coast. About 10% in the southeast. About 5% southwest. About 5% overseas. About 5% other/unknown.

Been out of it for a while, but can update the following... ND is out of it. He was set to sign early with them but now they are fourth & moved on. UW jumped back into it. The family wants him on West Coast, & they are still fighting with USC. Bama is interesting because they want him & he is interested, but I just don’t see him leaving the West Coast without some typical Bama shannanigans. I still think if USC wants him & sweet talks him he ends up there. Then a tie between UW & Bama.
