It really is frustrating that these high end players don’t realize how low risk of a decision UW is. The worst case scenario is you go 9-4 under Pete.
They will get good coaching. The program is organized. The coaches care about the players and stay on them. The rules are consistent. Other schools are playing Victor and keeping Peters on the team. UW is a good school. Pete puts guys in the NFL. Fan base could be better, but is best in the PAC 12. Seattle is a real city.
I know that last paragraph is doogish, but it’s true. Kids are dumb and that’s fine, but parents and high school coaches should understand and consider some of this, especially the ones not getting money under the table. I can’t fault kids and their families for that.
The problem is parents let kids make their own decisions which is fucking dumb. These kids at this age are borderline retarded.
I mean, I get why a kid from California would go to USC. But having said that, I don't get why a kid would go to USC. Or certainly why they would let themselves be waitlisted or slow-played by USC. YOU are doing THEM the favor. It's like no coaching happens there. If USC tells a DB they have to wait and see if they are going to offer, the guy should tell them to fuck off and go elsewhere.
Just consider the last five years of NFL drafts. USC has had ONE 1st-rounder, a 3rd-rounder, a 4th-rounder and two 6th-round picks. And their lone 1st-round pick, Adoree Jackson, was taken that high primarily because he's an amazing punt returner.
Meanwhile, Washington in that same timeframe has two 1st-rounders and three 2nd-rounders. Two starting corners and one starting safety in the NFL. Do you think Washington has OUTRECRUITED USC over the past eight years? Or are they actually COACHING their players to get better?
USC has a QB coaching WRs who is the OC but isn't allowed to call plays or design the offense. WTF? Just listed to an NFL pre-draft podcast today where the scout said he looked at Porter Gustin and Nwosu from USC and while he liked their athleticism, they looked like they hadn't been taught any passrushing moves at all, just tried to run around guys. USC in a nutshell.

Not really ... they can only take so many kids per year ... now that we've got Petersen for the long haul and results to match ... eventually we'll get close to them in recruiting (not surpass) but we'll outcoach and outdevelop the kids and the NFL will come calling more often.
USC will always get the lion's share of talent but there's lots leftover ... my question is whether Petersen needs to dip into the gangster pool like Don James did to get over the top or whether he can still fulfill the Boise St-plus-plus in-the-pac-12, OKG model.
Been out of it for a while, but can update the following... ND is out of it. He was set to sign early with them but now they are fourth & moved on. UW jumped back into it. The family wants him on West Coast, & they are still fighting with USC. Bama is interesting because they want him & he is interested, but I just don’t see him leaving the West Coast without some typical Bama shannanigans. I still think if USC wants him & sweet talks him he ends up there. Then a tie between UW & Bama.

Not everyone wants to live in Seattle for the rest of their lives. I’m from up there and have been down in LA since 2009..it’s a great place to live dispite what the sentiment in the Northwest is about the region. As a few people have mentioned there are plenty of advantages as a USC alumni in Southern California. Just like for UW grads in Seattle. There’s no denying the track record of the past 5 years of UW’s w/ DBs in the NFL however USC offers a lot as well. Incredibly strong network in this region. I’m sure that’s why his father is pushing for USC; the opportunities post career are immense.
