UW practices according to a buddy

Nothing new but still nice seeing this being said. I think Petersen will bring discipline but unlike Ty his players will actually like him. Every player spoke highly of Petersen when he departed Boise for UW while you didn't hear any speak highly of Sark for an example when he left for USC.
I know, win 10 games or GTFO and perhaps I'm dooging it up for Petersen. I actually think the talent is there they just didn't have an adult steering them in the right direction. All these little things will pay off long run and even short term as well.

This isn't dooging... Since there is data to suggest someone knows what the fuck they are doing ... 92-12 and shit ...
... The Negas .. They shall ..
Noog ...
Now win 10 in the regular season or GTFO !!!!1!!!11!!!

I don't think its dooging it up when there are credible reasons behind the optimism.
Petersen is a proven championship coach and his style and tactics are different and light years ahead of Sark, who in his 5th year had a top 20 metrics team (before BYU win) that would have been top 10 easily with Petersen. Combine Petersen's track record and aura of national recognition with UW's advantages and tradition and theres no logical reason to think he won't have UW back in the top 10 regularly and competing on the national scale. Whether he goes 12-2 or 10-4 this season doesn't really change that. -
I know it's not Dooging but some in here are very quick to throw that term out there. Fuck the term Doog is used so much I think many forgot what the whole meaning actually is.

No complaints here - which makes this bored difficult, nothing to bitch about
Even jamming some Springsteen on Tues -
This board will be more intense I think. The more winning you do the more it hurts when you lose, the more joy you gain when there is a big win.unfrozencaveman said:No complaints here - which makes this bored difficult, nothing to bitch about

Dawgman back in the late 1990's and early 2000's was very much like that. There was several people punching their fists on the key board after the Miami loss in 2001 and they allowed it. That was the mindset back then that blowout losses like that were fucking unacceptable as they should be.
So I think even in wins you'll see posters more critical of individuals as we are looking big picture. Like if UW defeats Hawaii for an example 34-24(same score as Illinois) there will be some major angst in here while last year nobody cared because we knew the season was over the minute Sark was allowed to have a year five. -
Yep.....just look at LSU or Alabama boards. They go fucking beserk over one loss. WR drops a pass....fire the WR coach! Offense only scores 10 points...fire the OC!
The thing with Petersen is it all happened so fast.
I remember at the Duchess, myself, Cornell (rip lol), Road Dawg and Chris Vashon were talking the day after the apple cup about how we could be fucked for several years.....maybe Sark gets to 10-4 next year and someone hires him away...Sark was good enough not to get fired but not hired away. Suddenly USC hires him and we get Petersen. We all knew we could be a top 10 program again but it seemed so far away at that point. It just happened so quickly and unexpectedly. -
I remember beating Indiana (around 2002 or 2003) something like 38-13 and going onto Dawgman to vent about how that wasn't Husky Football and why do we suck so bad.
-
Conversely I remember in 2011 being like "This is going to be a long year" after the Eastern game and being told "a win is a win" by several doogs.DerekJohnson said:I remember beating Indiana (around 2002 or 2003) something like 38-13 and going onto Dawgman to vent about how that wasn't Husky Football and why do we suck so bad.
"Three years ago you would have killed for a win and now you are complaining? Damn you are negative!".
While like you said back then being disappointed in wins was normal because the expectations were so much higher. I remember leaving Husky Stadium in 1995 after barely beating Army and walking out feeling like we had lost. -
The 2012 season was my only year posting on doogman. You couldn't criticize anything on that fucking board without some shitty posters and mods getting on you. I said we were playing like shit against Colorado and that Sark's playcalling sucked. Terry Fucking Dell told me Sark was loosening the defense up and saving the good calls for later. I told him we could go I formation and run up the middle for at least 5-6 yards every play, but Sark was getting cute. We put up 7 points in the first half to possibly the shittiest Pac 12 team I have ever seen. There was under a minute left before we scored out first points.He_Needs_More_Time said:

90% of the posters agreed with Dell and were mad I was being negative and gave me the typical bullshit about the game being 4 quarters. When our offense started rolling in the 2nd half, posters were saying, "I told you so" like I ever thought we would lose. -
HA! I was bitching up a storm that game too and my Doog friends after the game were like "Still want to fire Sark?" To which I replied Yes! I also said this type of slow bullshit first half will cost us next week if they play like that against WSU. Was told I was overreacting.RoadDawg55 said:

Fast forward a week later UW trailed WSU 10-7, gave them life. Had a big 3rd quarter, got too cocky and too complicate once again only to lose.
I can understand Pete Carroll's USC teams going complicate because they were that fucking good but who the fuck were we to do that shit? Of course instead of hammering them on it Sark going into the following year is talking about how we were really a 9-4 team hypothetically. It's a good thing we didn't really go 9-4 or we'd have big heads.
The fans had no expectations at all but I can't blame them since the head coach obviously had no expectations either. -
Our apple cup was a fucking dreckfest. I was at both that game and OSU this year. In Corvallis they set out to pillage. WSU was your typical lazy bullshit combined with play calling that was way too cute. Thank god Halladay was looking to throw some clutch picks.
-
I never thought that this board and the "halfbrains" on it are tied to bitching and moaning ... instead the people have expectations and are tied to being accountable to what this program is, has been, and will be again in the future.
-
So that's just what you're hearing?
-
It used to drive me crazy when kim, fetters, and their dad (baird) would say "a win is a win, so stop complaining" after we beat some shitty team. Now I get it. Look at them and their followers, and you'll see why any "victory" in life is the greatest thing ever.DerekJohnson said:I remember beating Indiana (around 2002 or 2003) something like 38-13 and going onto Dawgman to vent about how that wasn't Husky Football and why do we suck so bad.

On the one hand, you're right about getting excited over shit in April.OZONE said:Oh hey! I found another one of your off season championship threads! What a bunch of doogs.
On the other hand, we have an actual head coach for the first time in 12 years, so we're still learning how to handle it. -
Jimmy Cornell was the original Suddenly Senior

If Sark had come out and said, "Hey... We may win only 5 games but I guarantee you a NWChampionship this year"... then delivered that... shut the media and the new media out and released press statements thru some faggy press spokesman or maybe a preppy spokes team of reporters giving us glimpses behind the curtain.... we would still have a new stadium, Peterman would still be coach and we would have been spared all the drama.

Those last two games were such weird games emotions wise. The fire Sark momentum actually had some steam after that UCLA loss. If UW goes 7-5 and a losing record in conference in the "special season" I don't think he survives. I know of one booster who was telling me in late October they(Boosters) were getting tired of his bullshit(running around, being a drunk, the James memorial service) so I think had he lost either one he's gone.haie said:Our apple cup was a fucking dreckfest. With the Apple Cup trailing 10-3 at halftime and Sankey having 5 carries I was so upset. I hate losing to the Cougs because I gotta hear their annoying ass fan base for a fucking year straight. On the other hand I knew a win would equal an extension for Sark so I was super torn.
UW wins the game as we know and this bored became very dark. Like Chest alluded to we all thought we were stuck with Sark. USC was going to make a splash hire so no way was he leaving for USC going to be a possibility we were going to be stuck in mediocrity for the rest of the decade.
I still can't believe USC hired him. So surreal that not only did Sark LEAVE! That UW actually hired a good coach to replace him. -
Disagree. Suddenly Senior day happened in 2006, Little Jimmy got suddenly senior in practice in 2008.HuskyJW said:Jimmy Cornell was the original Suddenly Senior

There was the famous "Can't you just be happy with 5-1?" When I pointed out that UW went through the easy part of the schedule in unimpressive fashion and the reckoning would soon come. They went 2-5 after that.He_Needs_More_Time said:

How a team wins or losses in very important. I remember after watching the Colorado game in 1990 thinking, UW has a very good team and could very well be one of the best in the nation. It was a well played game by two good teams. I think Colorado won the MNC that year (even though they got a 5th down vs. Missouri). Then there are games where they play like shit, but are lucky to beat an inferior team, and you know they aren't very good and it will catch up with them. Like a bad golfer who who maybe skips one across the water, or hits a tree and gets a bounce that puts him near the hole...maybe he gets a par or a birdy on the first couple of holes, but everyone knows he will still shoot a 110, becuase he isn't very good. (see the Arizona foot bounce pick 6 for reference) -

Fuck off -
I hate saying this but you gotta go by the ole eye test. Big difference between being 5-1 like the 1990 team was vs how the 2011 team was.MikeDamone said:

Even this year in starting 4-0 I wasn't convinced as UW was leading the nation in penalties and top five in the nation in yards per game yet way down there in points per game. It was the same old sloppy play which ended up burning them against Stanford, Oregon, ASU and UCLA. -
I find it funny that Little Jimmy stormed off that there wasn't enough football talk in here. The moment we realized he was gone was when a lot of good football talk started to took place.brchco12 said:i only trust practice reports when they come from @jecornel (RIP)
What I'm saying is Little Jimmy silence in these serious football threads speaks volumes.
