If Hop Loses Out

Any way to get him fired is best for the program at this point. Upper campus bullshit about Green should be used as well. Hopefully some other players also have terrible grades and have very little chance at graduating. This isn’t mediocre and a slight below .500 conference record. This is 12th place in the PAC.
And I know it’s not Stewart’s fault (although his play had dropped off big time) but I hope we never get a one and done again because each year we have had one, we have completely sucked. Anytime an average program or worse gets those guys, they are still bad.
Can’t see how even Cohen wouldn’t consider it at this point. 12th in the conference with two one and done first rounders, a five star transfer, and a couple up class men off last year’s PAC 12 champs.

The incompetence is reaching epic proportions. We have the in season roster mismanagement, lack of player development for anyone on the roster, inability to keep Green eligible, an offense that makes you contemplate the heat death of the universe, and zero recruits for 2020.
Plus the inability to win a fucking game.
What exactly are the positives?
-a regular season title in a down year for the conference.
-a tourney win against a mid major before getting shit on by UNC.
-a good recruiting class that he’s managed to lead to the PAC-12 cellar.
Is anyone still on board with this guy??? -
Kim Grinolds and some other dawgman people are pedaling this notion that Sam Timmons was forced to give up his jersey # to Isaiah Stewart and that caused a morale hit with the team that snowballed into the shitshow that has been this season. If true, that is some seriously shitty team management by Hopkins.

That sounds like some Dawgman bullshit, lol. You know what really hurts morale? Zero recruits for 2020 is probably the best argument against this guy. Supposedly recruiting is his forte'. Failing to reload for when Stewart (who for sure will be one and done) and McDaniels (good riddance) is comical.ThomasFremont said:The incompetence is reaching epic proportions. Didn't watch last night but he got absolutely PWNED by WSU's new guy on Sunday. No way that team should be on the floor vs. all this talent. Cuog plays hard all the time. Hop's guys sort of turn it on and off when they have all the feels.

No coach, in any P5 conference, should survive the season if he finishes dead last. Factor in the inherent advantages this program has, the roster, the preseason hype, and the complete clusterfuck that followed, and I'd be okay with a midseason firing. Cut our losses and blow this shit up now. Winning in college basketball isn't that fucking hard.

"Feel bad...
For HC Hopkins. By all accounts this is a decent man with great BB pedigree who came and connected with a community and resurrected this program from mediocracy.
This year, unfortunately, he gets saddled with a terrific dunderhead like McDaniels who sabotages key games at key moments. He knows they'll pack the box against Stewart but not a single one of the perimeter guys can sink a shot when the team needs it. Green totally misreads the "fine print" on transfer that he actually needs to succeed in school to play BB here, and that sets the whole tone for the season. The team gets a second half lead and then goes to sleep. The players are simply not listening to the coaches.
What a waste for a fine man" -

Cohen is in for a rough year. Hopkins is flaming out to a degree of failure never remotely imagined. Lake almost assuredly will be a massive bust, as evidenced by his hiring of Donovan which might be the worst OC hire in the history of college football. Both are first-time HCs learning on the job, massively, massively in over their heads. At an elite university and with the tools and recruiting base to succeed quickly and sustainably.

Don't think so. Find me a P5 OC hire that screamed 'categorical failure' more than Donovan. Remember, unproven OCs or 1st-time OCs at least give you the "I hope he turns out good" card to play. With Donovan you have multiple instances of extreme incompetence, including finishing 111th at PSU which is a program very similar to ours in the Big Ten. And then rotting away in the NFL as the secretarial assistant to the running backs coach of a dead, soon-to-be-fired staff. It's a 0/10. Not even a 1/10.
It's the worst on paper OC P5 hire of the modern era. -

Women's hoops is in the shitter too. Year 3 of Wynn and there's been zero improvement. What a great time to announce the new basketball facility!BaldwinIV said:Cohen is in for a rough year. The crying over Pete made me seriously question her. I understand being disappointed he was leaving, but that shit really bothers me and seemed problematic. She shouldn’t be idolizing any coach. I would prefer a competitor that was thinking we were going to level up and become even better after Pete. Crying over Pete is some fitting, UW loser mentality shit. -
This team is the definition of The Disease of Me

No question and this is why one and dones are bad unless an elite coach with a track record is coaching them. Too many handlers, too many concessions made, and it creates too much bad blood with the regular players on the team.Tequilla said:This team is the definition of The Disease of Me
McDaniels is not of any benefit to the team and absolutely hurts the program despite being talented. -

The only hope (hope?, lol), because Hop isnt going anywhere, is that Hop as a real first time head coach didnt understand how destructive a guys like Mcdaniels and Quade if they arent managed expertly and he has learned from this years disaster and he goes back to getting tryhards like Tybulle, Nowell, and dickersons with a Stewart type 5 star every 2-3 years playing hard within his defensive system.RoadDawg55 said:

Shit happens, Fuck Hop, he should be fired for this season, but its the fact that there is absolutely nothing to look forward to next season that is so fucking draining.
If he had 2-3 good prospects coming in after this season I could probably convince myself to give him a mulligan/fluke because he has been good in the past and he isnt going anywhere anyways so might as well LIPO. But the shit this season and recruiting is just retarded. -
The problem with keeping Hop is that we are basically starting from scratch next year when he’s already had three years. The more years he’s spent at UW, the less his connections to the East Coast become. We have recruited horribly on the West Coast. We aren’t a player or two away. We are 4-5 players away. Not one guy returning is a top 20 player in the conference.Houhusky said:

You look just at in state guys and can see how much losing them have hurt us. Malachi Flynn is the leading scorer on a 25-0 SDSU team. Elleby is an all conference player at WSU. Kispert is a very good player at Gonzaga. Wichita State’s leading scorer went to Timberline in Olympia. Noah Williams at WSU will develop into a very good PAC 12 player. Having a couple of these guys would make us drastically better.
I know some think UW can’t be good in basketball, but they easily can. Recruit 3-4 year players and you are also in a loctation where there are high 4 and 5 star in state players every couple of years.
Hop’s coaching is bad. His recruiting is even worse. Things won’t get better until he’s fired. He went all out for the big names and the program fell out from under him because of it. All the blue collar, great system bullshit we bought into was bullshit. We were duped into thinking he was good because he got some guys to try after they quit on Romar. -
