Except, as has been said, we aren't talking about ELITE recruits who we aren't pulling out of Texas anyways. We are talking about 1-2 depth players that fill out the bottom of a class. I'm pretty sure we could pull that out of somewhere in the West we are already recruiting.
And as I fucking already said, why the fuck wouldn't we try to fill the bottom of the class with the best kids possible? If the coaches think a 3-star linebacker from Texas is better than a 3-star linebacker from California, they're gonna take the kid from Texas. What is the fucking problem with that? 3-star Texas recruits play against better high school competition overall than most West coast recruits do.

I already have. We've never heard from any West coast recruit that didn't come here that UW wasn't recruiting him hard. Our coaches recruit their top West coast targets hard as fuck. We can go down the list and the kid either wasn't interested, was interested but got cooled on by UW, or is looking to get paid. None of them would have committed here if UW wasn't recruiting Texas. That's fucking stupid.
Good thing we aren't discussing top targets or elite talent but 1-2 depth players.

    These are facts guysm.
It's year 6 under Petersen and Rice is going to play 30+ snaps a game for us bitch. That's a fact. You can say he hasn't done anything yet all you want but the fact is he has worked his way up the depth chart and is ready to contribute as a RS Junior which is about what was expected of him as a recruit because he was a super raw 2-star when UW offered him. We have zero Texas busts or non-contributors that were wastes of scholarships on this roster. They have all panned out as well as you could expect.

What leads you to believe that rice is going to play 30+ snaps a game this year?

I don't think you know what facts are.

I think you'd be better off taking the Kellyanne Conway angle and admit we have facts but you have alternative facts.

So there probably weren't enough 2 star raw recruits in the West that we could find anyone else in an area we have a natural recruiting advantage in...

    Not a belief.

    Fact.

Am I missing something? We have a shit load of elite West Coast talent committed to us right now and more to come. Were you expecting UW to get every single one of them before they have even won a fucking bowl game against a team with a pulse yet? Some people just like to bitch and are always glass half empty. We've got it pretty damn good right now.

Yes, you do seem to be missing the point. No one is arguing about top tier elite talent. We are arguing about spending a ton of resources on acquiring 1-2 depth players per year out of Texas when we could fairly easily pull that out of a state like California where we are already beginning to dominate recruiting.

Because he's our #2 Buck behind Tryon and we rotate a lot on defense.

I'm hoping he is third string behind Latu. I guess we will see.

And that's where you continue to be wrong. Show me a California 3-star RB you think is better than Sunday. Show me California 3-star ILB you think is better than McDonald. There aren't any. I like McDonald more than I like Bruener's scrawny ass. Our coaches feel like those two guys are better than the 3-star West coast options available to them and that's why they recruited them. If there were better options in California that wanted to come here they would have taken them.

We are extremely thin so Rice ius likely to get some run by default whether or not he is any good.

But yeah that would be awesome if Latu or even Zion passed him.

He won't be. Not saying Latu won't play but he doesn't have the trust of the coaches in terms of knowledge of the game and technique yet that Rice does.

He's not gonna play by default. He's good. He can play and make plays this season. He's not getting past up by the younger guys. Enjoy the pleasant surprise of Rice making plays when the season rolls around but it won't surprise me.

    The proper analysis is

Sunday minus extra time invested in Texas to find and recruit him vs Jalen John or whatever 3* west coast RB we could have had instead with minimal effort.

For me personally I wish we would have recruited Botelho, Herbig, and Bijan harder even if Bijan was a long shot.

Do you guys think having Ngalu and Heimuli in the boat are helpful in recruiting Troy Franklin? Being a national power will for sure help recruiting in Texas. But so will having successful guys from Texas on your team. I know six years in is pretty late to say LIPO, but I honestly think we're gonna start getting some highly-recruited guys out of Texas on the next few years. Just look at how many kids came up from Texas for the last camp.

Jalen John? Are you fucking kidding me? He sucks. Sunday is way better. How about they don't recruit Jalen John at all and get the better player. Sound good?

They recruited those guys as hard as they ever would have. Texas recruiting did not take effort away from recruiting those guys. All of them said UW was all over them. If our coaches didn't recruit Texas they would not put more time and effort into recruiting their West Coast targets. They would have more time to do non-recruiting related things or more time off to spend with their families. Texas recruiting does not affect West coast recruiting at all. They still visit and talk to the West coast kids as much as they would if they weren't recruiting Texas at all.
