That’s why Husky football is dead — baffles the mind that you need a committee to make this hire. Rest assured, it was an exhaustive process… blah blah blah
Five of our last six coaches have been California boys, who bitched about the weather and usually practiced in Dempsey. Then a team from the desert like ASU would come up and kick our ass in a monsoon in Husky Stadium.
Who knows, maybe DeBoer's background in South Dakota and working his way up through the coaching ranks the hard way will rub off on the team and program as a whole. It may be exactly what this program needs.
If we had the money to hire Campbell, doesn’t that mean we now have money to hire a kick ass staff? It seems that it would be pretty easy to hire some known recruiters. Personally I think a Deboer is going to win a shit of games. LIPO
Not sure what you want… you’re shitting on deboner because he’s a bad recruiter and saying we shouldn’t hire him, while also saying we are not appropriately flexing our money to make an impact hire, so who’s left that’s not a limp dick and we are seriously considering that doesn’t require a big pay day? Sounds like you’re disappointed with the hire already, not sure why you’d be in here chastising people for thinking deboner and tedford may be the best we (re: Jen) can do. If it ain’t deboner then share the info.

The issue is that he doesn't know anyone, and most of the time, Mountain West coaches want to bring in their previous staff. Look at his staff right now; most of those guys have been following him since his NAIA days.
Kalen will absolutely get smoked on the recruiting trail. Washington desperately needs a big name to compete with Mario and Lincoln.
I don't buy this. He's going to know how important recruiting is. He's a successful, hard working coach who has done what he needed to do to kick ass at every job he has had. It's stupid, in my opinion, to assume he's going to struggle in recruiting. Name means jack shit. It's all about who identifies the right guys, works the hardest, and sells the best.
DeBoer will recruit fine.
He has absolutely no idea what it takes to be good at recruiting. Even Pete struggled his first couple of years at recruiting, and he was known nationally. Until you have gone through recruiting against USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, you don't know the challenges it presents and what it takes to win those battles.
No he didn’t. Recruiting got worse once Pete got away from what he was amazing at. He was better at evaluating and developing than just about anyone and got worse with the four star bums.
We can worry about beating the blue bloods when the time comes. Right now, we need success on the field and to get interest and a boost from recruiting that way. DeBoer can hire great recruiters as his assistants. The guy has won. It’s a gamble, but let’s wait to see how he does recruiting. He has some pretty good offenses to show to recruits on that side and historically we have had a good defense.
The anti-DeBoer takes that talk about recruiting are going to give me a fucking aneurysm. All of them are Kim circa 2014 talking about Petersen levels of stupidity.
...the team being DOA for so long made me forget what raging about UW actually felt like. lol
In terms of an arms race with sc deboner doesn’t move the needle now that Riley is in place.
Of course not but nobody that Jen and co are willing to pay would get us even close to a half chubb at this point unless stoops was pissed at Riley for leaving Oklahoma and decided to reconsider and come here to beat the piss out of him.

I hope not but seem like DeBoner might be hard pressed to get a solid 8+ WINches a year in this new Pac12 landscape.
