One of the many quaint beliefs the Left has about the US is that it's a relatively low-tax country

If they would have let me opted out of that fucking Ponzi scheme as late as my 50th birthday I would have gladly opted out of SS. Got my SS statement in the mail the other day list from me how much of my and my employers money they've been stealing from us since the beginning of my work years. I'd easily have additional millions in retirement funds if they would have put the money in a simple index fund.HHusky said:

Some of our contestants are dumb as a rock here -
You seem focused on federal income taxes. Washington state just levied a .6% payroll tax that is allegedly for long-term care, but after analysis it doesn't seem to help much. I don't remember voting on it. State and local taxes are part of the overall tax burden.HHusky said:

Investing $500.00 a month for 40 years, starting in 1980, invested in a simple SP 500 index fund, would give you nearly $5 million in retirement funds. All of us who have worked our entire adult lives, have easily contributed that amount, along with our employer contributions, into the Social Security scam.

It's not a complex formula. I make X and get taxed YHHusky said:

That's with 401k hiding as much as possible (for now)
Y % X = over 30
I'm not some ultra wealthy dude who owns a ton of shit and has accountants hiding money everywhere. I'm pretty much Joe America Middle who gets raped for damn near 1/3 of his paycheck.
Also, back to the point, this wouldn't be such a tough pill to swallow if the money actually did shit.
It's boondoggle after boondoggle out here. We're building 150 billion dollar train from Bakersfield to Merced while complaining about water shortages. You could spend half that money on an aquaduct that solves the problem for good, but we won't.
It's frustrating as fuck, but people like you rush to defend your Masters and want to give them more. -
I want to take the entitlements of people I dont like so I have more and they are miserable

Look at the the hundreds of billions we throw at public education and we have absolutely nothing to show for it. In fact, a large percentage of kids end up with a negative education. Just look at the slobberer. West Linn spends over $15,000 a year per student. So, a class of 25 12 year olds has $375,000 to spend. Where does it go? And then the phuckers are screaming for more money.Doogles said:
