One of the many quaint beliefs the Left has about the US is that it's a relatively low-tax country

If they would have let me opted out of that fucking Ponzi scheme as late as my 50th birthday I would have gladly opted out of SS. Got my SS statement in the mail the other day it lists how mine and my employer's money they've been stealing from us since the beginning of my work years. I'd easily have additional millions in retirement funds if they would have put the money in a simple index fund.HHusky said:

The wealthy are paying the income taxes they are required to pay. The vast majority of income is being reported on W-2s and 1099s. The top 10% are paying 70% of the federal income taxes. Wealthy people come up with some semi-bogus deductions but they don't add up to much. Like putting the wife and kids on the corporate board and then having the annual meeting in Hawaii or Aspen. Put the right paperwork together and there is no way you lose the deductions. Just like doctors or attorneys taking continuing education in Hawaii.RaceBannon said:

There is a lot of not reported income from the underground economy. Good luck getting money from the cartel or Hispanic landscapers. The dems want lots more IRS agents for reasons having nothing to do with revenue. If you think that the IRS won't chase conservatives as their prime mission you are ignorant or lying or both. Just look at Trump, Tucker Carlson and James O'Keefe. -

If you invested $100 in the S&P 500 at the beginning of 1980, you would have about $11,675.29 at the beginning of 2021, assuming you reinvested all dividends. This is a return on investment of 11,575.29%, or 12.10% per year.
Now add up every dollar you've paid into SS along with your employer's contribution and then do the math providing for compound interest. Even a middle class person would have millions in retirement and you'd also be holding a tangible asset you could give to your family when you died.
Now think about what you could do about encouraging home ownership if you allowed people to use that money for a first time home purchase. What would happen if you did the exact same thing for healthcare? Make people invest a small percentage of their earning in a simple index fund when they are young and healthy and then let them build that for their entire working life.
But that's not the system that Dazzler and the leeches he votes for wants. That system wouldn't encourage dependency on the government. That system would encourage people to be in favor of a healthy fiscal and investment climate that would encourage growth. -

Investing $500.00 a month for 40 years, starting in 1980, invested in a simple SP 500 index fund, would give you nearly $5 million in retirement funds. All of us who have worked our entire adult lives, have easily contributed that amount, along with our employer contributions, into the Social Security scam.

It's boondoggle after boondoggle out here. We're building 150 billion dollar train from Bakersfield to Merced while complaining about water shortages. You could spend half that money on an aquaduct that solves the problem for good, but we won't.

Look at the the hundreds of billions we throw at public education and we have absolutely nothing to show for it. In fact, a large percentage of kids end up with a negative education. Just look at the slobberer. West Linn spends over $15,000 a year per student. So, a class of 25 12 year olds has $375,000 to spend. Where does it go? And then the phuckers are screaming for more money.Doogles said:

Your government has decided that you can't be trusted to invest for your retirement so we are going to steal that money from you and not invest it for your retirement.
I'm old enough to have fallen for the Al Gore LOCKBOX for social security. I was actually impressed because for years I had been saying the same thing Bob pointed out. We are getting shit for a return because the SS money goes into the general fund.
