Promote Gregory to DC?

Stick with me for a minute. It seems everyone thinks an internal promotion for our defensive coordinator position would be a terrible idea. Is it possible that promoting Bob Gregory to the position is actually a good idea?

I honestly don’t know if he’s fully qualified to do that, but for some insane reason we seem intent on keeping him here. He can’t recruit for shit, but it feels like he can at least coach players up once they get here, even if he sometimes picks the wrong guys to play. Coordinators typically aren’t heavy recruiters compared to position coaches.

Could it be that we’re better off kicking him to DC so he doesn’t fuck up our recruiting anymore or as much, and we replace him with a linebackers coach who can actually recruit and keep black players at the UW?

We don't know if Timu will be good as a LB coach or not. The jury is still out on Cato. Why bring in new blood and new perspectives on football when you could just put the program on dialysis and waste away slowly.

Yeah, I would hate promoting Timu to LB coach more than I would hate Gregory to DC. Jen claims she has unlimited resources for Jimmy to hire. Go out and actually make a big dick move rather than just promoting another GA. You'd also be promoting a guy in Timu who is entrenched in the culture of lazy recruiting. Think about it, the guy would have Gregory, Harris, and Brown as his mentors and their "why work hard, the class will fill itself" recruiting ethos

If this doesn’t scream “Hiring you’re friends” then I don’t know what this is. But everywhere I’ve been that this happens it never works out in the long run
