Black Lives Matter

I've got lots of black friends. My black and Samoan teammates all had my back. more than the white guys. No one gives a shit. I am white and I am privileged.
Tacoma's finest killed another black man today. It's bullshit and it's my obligation to go further than saying All Lives Matter. I'm not talking slave reparations but I'm acknowledging blacks have been fucked over for too long. Hitler and the Nazis are a big and fascinating part of history but you don't see statutes of Hitler, Goering, and Himmler in Berlin. No one who lobbied for keeping Confederate statues should be considered very fine people.
I'd happily sign up to kill Jew exterminating Nazis. Dark Americans deserve better than the shit this country has dealt them from the day our forefathers chained the Africans up and shanghaied them to America. Our grandfathers enlisted in mass when the Japanese bombed our boys at Peal Harbor, why aren't we doing the same for our black brothers?
I don't know what to do but I need to do more. We all should.

You should take a shit on a cop car and flip off some black cops. Maybe post a black square somewhere.
Or cut the bullshit and start fighting the real issue. Government overreach, power, and the bulldozing of the individual.
Leftist control of the education system. The racism industrial complex, the war on poverty, the mocking of the family structure and fathers, personal responsibility being ridiculed, all major cities being controlled by leftists for years and years. Keep doing that. It's working so well.

1. Black Lives Matter. Saying otherwise is ignorant, BLM isnt saying ONLY black lives matter. Some people need to learn the difference.
2. That is an interesting point you bring up about the Confederate statues. It's usually an issue I dont care about being a PNW native far removed, but I see where youre coming from. Statues are typically reserved for those on the right side of history. Not all Confederates owned slaves or were fighting for for slavery, but still not a great look to lobby for their creation
3. Stop with the "my forefathers did something bad" sob story. This is fucking embarassing. The past should be learned from, not a spectre that looms over everything. History is full of butchery, slavery, rape, and misery. Every culture had those horrible things. You say your ancestors chained and enslaved...who sold the slaves to them? It was other Africans selling those conquered in war.
No culture has an innocent past so stop with the grovelling.
4. The cities with the worst looting (like Minneapolis) have been run by the self proclaimed allies of black people for 50 years. Are things better in those cities now than they were 50 years ago?
Maybe, just maybe, politicians are charlatans and the whole system needs a revamp, and not just because of the murder of George Floyd
5. The "I have black friends" talking point is fucking cringe. Almost everyone does that isnt a racist piece of shit. -
If we finally took down the statues then everything would be ok
That said, as I traveled to the south I found the confederate monuments wired. But again. Work big to small. -
I have nothing to grovel for and the black friends mantra is cringe worthy.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Thoughts

Stats are out there. I'm sure they've been rehashed here a few times. They don't show a racist, oppresive country where you'll get shot or choked if you go outside. Anyone can pick out incidents.
Useful idiots riot, burn, loot, and buy into the narrative. It's all about emtion and feelings, not facts.
It's about government control, sure, but it's also divide and conquer, same as it ever was. Now they've done an about face. Interesting. -
No one is for cops killing black people. No one in reality is against black people succeeding. It’s all profiling, profiling isn’t racism. Black people are treated differently because of the quick probabilities that people do in their heads, based on real risk math or at least perceived real math. If it’s perceived, that will reverse itself over time as it’s earned, go earn it by exceeding expectations. No one is going to give it to you, though many that don’t actually have black societies best interests at heart will claim to be able to do so. No legislation or protesting or decrees or leadership will change that instant calculation in the short term. It sucks for many, but it’s reality and the only answer to any of this.

At the same, the black community needs to take accountability and shame their own actions that are not furthering the cause. They don’t like to do that though because it’s uncomfortable and strips their victim hood. Denzel agrees with me.

It's not about giving blacks something other than their rightful equal place at the starting line.
My grandfather was an alcoholic grave-digger who lost everything between the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression...son of an immigrant cattle rancher who spent the remainder of his life doing odd jobs at barely subsistence level. My grandmother took in laundry and ironed for the more well off in town. By everything I've been told - they were the poorest of the poor in a very small town. Through no fault of their own, natural disaster and market forces put them way behind the 8 ball.
My father joined the military and served his country in Korea, Okinawa and Tokyo followed by a stateside tour as a recruiter for the Air Force for almost a decade. He then went back to college and earned his degree, worked for over three decades (most times doing three jobs because teachers made shit in those days) and put two kids through college. There were no vacations, there were no luxuries like going out to dinner (maybe once or twice per year...maybe - a big deal was getting a root beer float at the local A&W), there were no new cars. Many times the Throbber felt the sting of income inequality when his classmates drove new cars or hit the country club pool or played hoops at the nice gym at the local athletic club or spent their summers at their lake cabins. Or had the better clothes or cool sunglasses or the newest technology like a Walkman.
The Throbber built on that and has a moderately successful career, married a smoking hot version 1, lost everything in the divorce and started over again going to new heights with Mrs. Throbber v2.0.
CSB, I know.
And you want a 'rightful' equal place at the starting line? Which starting line? Where is the personal responsibility and work put in to get to the 'starting line' and overcome whatever adversity is presented as a result of personal decisions?

Don't know. Its hard. We need to do more. Not with reparations. Funding education for real world skills, providing more assistance for lower income families, black and white is one place to start. We're taxed on income, why can't we add a modest payroll tax to those who receive assistance to repay the taxpayers for sums, plus interest, they received? Lifting more out of poverty not by free subsidies makes sense. Like it or not inner city blacks turn to crime because they don't have the opportunities we do. Working at McDonalds or scrubbing toilets doesn't feed your family. We import skilled Indian and Chinese engineers, doctors, and high tech workers. They earn big salaries. Education in China and India is more affordable and those foreigners take jobs that could go to Americans who get the skills.Bob_C said:

There is systemic racism through our society. Both candidates are racist and pretend they're not. I agree, voting for a black president because he's black isn't the answer. It starts with us. Calling bullshit on black jokes. Making an extra effort to stop and holding doors for black women. Going out of your way to engage black people. A simple hi, nice weather. Writing letters to local elected officials demanding they support and protect blacks: firing police chiefs that tolerate racist cops. Quit blaming old broken policies other parties enacted. I honestly don't have all the answers but these are places we can start.
I can't control others but I can control me. By keeping quiet, unwittingly I've been part of the problem. I called a few of my "black friends" yesterday and asked what white people can and should do. Both independently gave me similar answers. It was damn uncomfortable at first but they both thanked me for asking and listening. They mostly want our awareness and understanding. They want our support in calling out racists. They want our support promoting black lives matter. White lives already matter. Black lives haven't mattered. They're right. Both denounced looting. I didn't ask because I hadn't seen the picture Damone posted but I don't think they'd support shitting on cars.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I've just chosen to speak my mine. Going forward, I'm choosing to be different. I think we all should. Whether you guys choose the same, is up to you. -
There is no "real" issue. Everything you outlined is a legitimate issue and they don't go away because systemic racism has the country's collective focus right now.MikeDamone said:I have a black friend.

At the end of the day, the black American experience is vastly different than the experience of every other ethnic group, especially white, and that imbalance of opportunity and experience is fundamentally wrong. It's a pathetic red herring to bring up anything else while black folks are flooding the airwaves explicitly telling you, often in great detail, how their lives are harder in America because of their skin color. If you want to call bullshit on what they're saying, then grow a sack and have at it, but the pussy footing around this problem talking about the "bigger" problems that America has is some cowardly dogshit. -

As a whole, whites are born with a head start. You're grandparents survived through the great depression and worked their way out of it. Be honest, did the blacks have the same opportunity? In the 1930's, blacks couldn't take a piss in the same bathrooms as whites. Up until the 1960s, many restaurants wouldn't serve paying black customers. Still today, golf clubs exclude want to be black and jew members, regardless of income or wealth. If that's acceptable, that tells me blacks don't have the job opportunities whites have. It's an uneven playing field.
