“ On Monday’s “Recruiting with Andrew Nemec" on 1080 The FAN, FSP CEO/head coach Tracy Ford joined the show to talk about an Oregon visit that went “above and beyond” even what his program has seen at Alabama, the growth and development of Ducks commit/FSP linebacker Keith Brown and Oregon’s (fast-rising) chances to land five-star wide receiver Troy Franklin.
Ford on Oregon’s energy compared to other top programs:
“Man, honestly I think they are probably a step above and beyond as far as the whole atmosphere that they bring and that energy,” he said. “You’ll be in a place like Alabama, a lot more... kind of just routine. You go to Alabama and it’s kind of routine, it’s kind of what you do. ...You come in and you see jerseys on the wall and they say, ‘Hey, the only thing different with these jerseys is these guys went first round.’ But you got to Oregon and they are just in your face, hooting and hollering. A lot of people originally thought, especially when Mario’s staff first came in, they were all fluff, all talk, not really no action. But when you rack’em and stack’em and see what they’re doing, it’s like, ‘These guys just won the Pac-12. They just won the Rose Bowl.’ So whatever they are doing it isn’t fake, it isn’t smoke and mirrors.”
He just described smoke and mirrors to a tee.
That's the problem. Whatever side of the argument you are on it really doesn't matter.
What matters is how it affects the recruits and the influencers and handlers.
Everyone laughed when Trump's name was brought up as maybe a potential Prez candidate.
What? That fucking guy? No way.
Evidently many people are swayed by "smoke and mirrors"
Doogs better pray that Egbuka and his family, influencers and handlers see Huard as a plus in the equation. And Donovan as not a negative. Playing for Heir is already an obstacle.
If Oregon can overcome any doubt over their quarterbacks offering, if they do well this upcoming year breaking in a new quarterbacks room - they may well leapfrog over UW in the pecking order, if they haven't already (for Egbuka)
Then the true competition is Oregon versus the Clemsons and Alabamas and even USC if they start to get their shit together ...
As for Franklin, remember that FSP just happen to be pac northwest. They are a business like any other and are as mercenary as they need to be. Any regional "loyalty" is overrated unless an athlete of theirs isn't good enough to be a true national recruit.
Franklin (from Cali, no less) catching 7vs7 passes over two years from Huard is Jimmy lake's house money ... but if they fuck up the recruiting (like not competing with the Oregon's aggressively or have a bad season in 2020) then don't think it would be hard for Franklin to go to Oregon or anywhere else.

Race, you’re so old yet so young. The only thing we could do to top their smoke and mirrors with dj show is have the cheerleaders dance on poles.

If that's what it takes, let's get some pole dancing dance team-ers. I already started shopping, turns out there's prêt-à-porter stripper gear that fits our color scheme.

Any doog who’s been thinking Tracy was our* guy last few years has been seriously deluding themselves.

Any doog who didn't know he was in the bag for Fort Scott Community College hasn't been paying attention.
Like they owe it to us to come here. Gotta get down and dirty and act like it matters
I think we're all hoping beyond hope that Jimmy realizes that just because you have fun and show it doesn't invalidate the built for life concept.
In my experience there are very few people that are so straight-laced they flat refuse coke and strippers. Everyone likes to have fun, and those that don't can probably be swayed with a direct, unvarnished built for life appeal; they should also be regarded with extreme suspicion.
Takes serious stones for Jalen to be recruiting someone at his position one year off, hope it shows Troy that this is the place to compete and make yourself the best player you can be.
If you're confident it shouldn't be an issue, cream rises to the top

Particularly so after the Draft Combine
Emeka clearly looks like he’s wanting to leave the area ... so I’m not holding out a ton of hope
