So far, UCLA has already checked in on Simon this fall at Lincoln while he's only been able to get to Washington during the season.
"I had UCLA come and check on me and that’s it so far but I've been to two Washington games this year," said Simon.
That includes last weekend's game between the Huskies and USC.
"I really liked the USC game because it was fun and I spent the day with my best friend J.T. (Tuimoloau) and there were a lot of ex-professionals and current pros there," said Simon.
Simon visited UCLA during the spring and also checked out Oregon and Washington State in the summer.
"The visits were great," said Simon. "I got to meet with the staff and take a tour of the campuses."
Simon said he won't really do many unofficial visits until after the season and he's not narrowing his list any time soon.
"Just going to some college games is my plan for the rest of the fall," said Simon. "I don't have a top five coming any time soon."
But Simon did say he's building good relationships with a number of coaches.
"Coach DP at UCLA (Don Pellum), coach Bobby Kennedy at Stanford, coach (Jack) Cooper at Nebraska) coach Pete at Washington (head coach Chris Petersen) and lastly coach Bobby April at Wisconsin."
He's also targeting a timeline for a decision.
"I want to be ready by the end of this next summer," said Simon.

Yeah but I bet we don't end up with all four. One will probably drag their feet and we'll take somebody else who emerges. Or maybe just take 3. My money is on Brown not being a Dawg. Good chance Ethan isn't either depending on what SC does.Emoterman said:

I understand that all of those players are elite talents but how many inside backers do we need on the roster? Our class next year is likely to not be nearly as big as the last 2. If all 4 wanted on board we’d start the 2021 season with 12 scholarship players at those 2 positions plus Ulofoshio and Fowler as walk-ons. Maybe Tuputala and Calvert end at SAM and maybe we can expect a transfer, but that’s a best case scenario.Emoterman said:

It didn’t drop my interest or gain any more, it’s still the same. Coach Lake, I love him, he’s my guy and I have a good relationship with him and he’s a good coach and he always has a good defense.”
Simon said his relationship with Bob Gregory, who has been running point on his recruitment, is still strong too.
“I always talked more with Coach Gregory and he and I are really close so he just said not much is going to change, they’re still going to have a good defense,” said Simon. -

With Keith Brown off the bored, the only other realistic target better than Simon is Ethan Calvert. Need to stack depth at that position until we actually get good playersRoadDawg55 said:

Do we really believe that Simon has a committable Offer from LSU? I don’t see any world were LSU is taking this kid early, especially after the NC. if they miss on ever other commit okay. But no way

I doubt it and think he will drop down the rankings until he goes to college. Kind of reminds me of DJ Rodgers. Speaking of physically imposing prospects, Top247 2021 athlete Julien Simon is a menacing looking safety/linebacker hybrid that had an interception and a couple pass breakups. Washington, UCLA, Stanford and Oregon are all in this one and he has an upcoming visit to LSU where he’s hoping the defending National Champs offer.

He said UW’s initial focus was on linebacker, and that inside linebackers coach Bob Gregory and coach Jimmy Lake still are his primary recruiters. But he’s been hearing more from running backs coach Keith Bhonapha, too.
“At first, it was just linebacker,” Simon said. “But they kind of moved into the realm of, ‘We think you’re a really good player, so we just want to get you on the field.’ If that’s linebacker or running back, it doesn’t really matter. That’s what I appreciate and like the most because right now, I’m not really sure what I want to do.”
LaShonte said the family attended UW’s in-state recruiting day in January and that she’s been in regular contact with Lake and Gregory. Petersen’s resignation took Julien by surprise, but he said he was relieved to hear Lake was taking over. “They don’t have to learn a completely new system,” he said. “Defense-wise, I think they’re going to be just fine. I just wanted to see what was going to happen on offense because of the coaching changes and OC.”
That’s similar to the culture Lake is trying to establish at UW, particularly among the 2021 class. Whether Simon signs up for that vision remains to be seen. But it sure seems the Huskies are in good shape.
“We’ve been watching this boy in all his endeavors in sports since he could walk,” LaShonte said. “To be able to continue this journey with him would be amazing. He’s built so much within the community. … To be able to have him and these kids at home representing Washington would be amazing for us.
“At the end of the day, he’s going to make the best decision for him in all aspects — sports, whatever he wants to do after football. Being from Washington and born and raised here, it definitely does mean something a little bit different.”
