The standards of success for Husky Football 2013

1-5 wins disaster
6 wins extremely disappointing
7 wins mediocrity defined, time for a new coach
8 wins decent season, time for a new coach
9 wins modestly successful season, Sark probably deserves another season
10 wins successful season, Sark would deserve another season
11-13 wins Spectacular season; Sark would deserve extension and healthy raise

Agree. And for as much shit as we give Sark, a 9 or 10 win season is there for the taking.
-
With the OOC schedule the next couple years being so soft that should be an automatic 3-0 this year and 4-0 next year to start out. Of course they'll still shit the bed in conference play and ruin that nice start. This feels like a 5-4 type of year, maybe 6-3 if Jim Mora has the meltdown we're supposed to be on the look out for

Looks like someone has an agenda.DerekJohnson said:Here's how I view it...

This is pretty reasonable, Derek.
I'm a little surprised but yes, your standards are good. -
He would still deserve to go door.ass.out. with 9-4, but there's no way they could fire him for that.
He's definitely back with 8 wins, and probably back with 6 or 7 wins. You just can't expect to win with a black QB after all. -
A large part of the fan base consider 6-6 and a shitty bowl game to be winning.
-
That large part of the fanbase thoroughly deserves another 0-12.

When UW rolls to a 4-1 start and some smart people point out that the schedule was front loaded with weaker teams, look for doogs to call those smart people "coog/duck trolls" and ask them why they can't just be happy with 4-1. The when 7 win Steve goes 7-6, they will conveniently forget what they were told at the beginning of October.

Yes, there is no way they would ever fire him after a 6, 7 or 8 win season... but this is how I see it.
Personally, I think they'll go 7-6 or 8-5 with four of the losses being grotesque beat downs.
If by chance they go 6-7 and invariably retain Sark, Woodward's response to any critics will be, "We do things differently at Washington than at other places like in the SEC. We like to think we have a little more of a balanced perspective upon the student athlete experience."
And the beat will go on.
My dad disagrees with me, as he feels there will be tremendous pressure to fire Sark should the Dawgs only win six games. But I think our standards have been lowered and there wouldn't be much of an outcry for Sark's firing -- save for the Stomping Your Feet Board du jour on Dawgman.com.

Are you and your Dad going to enjoy the games on crisp Fall afternoons regardless of the score? That's what it's all about anyway.DerekJohnson said:Yes, there is no way they would ever fire him after a 6, 7 or 8 win season... but this is how I see it.

No way Sark gets fired at 6 wins. I agree he should be he won't.
Sure as hell won't happen at 7 or 8 -
Face it. Even if Sark only wins 4 or 5 games, and if there's an injury to Kasen, ASJ, Price, Sankey, Shaq, or Parker there's no way he gets fired.
I think only 3 wins or less would clinch it. -
I think he's door.ass.out. if he goes 4-8 and safe if he goes 6-7.
As always, the REAL O/U is 5. -

Hi Harv
-
6 & 6 will not get him fired, particularly if he wins a punk bowl game and ends up at 7 - 6.
A 500 record will keep him in the saddle for a few years. Maybe in 2015 the PC duds in the athletic dept. will start asking questions, even then if tickets are selling don't expect much. -
Looks reasonable, but should qualify "successful" to also mean no more blowout losses. That bullshit has gotten beyond old. Real progress means they show up and compete in every game.DerekJohnson said:Here's how I view it...

if you can't see how Woody front loaded the schedule to ensure he gets his own extra year and mind-numbing severance check then I can't help you.
-
Sark has talked himself into a corner. Expectations are higher than people here think. He will get fired if he goes 7-6.
-
Totally disagree. The AD and the fans will accept the excuse du jour.ACSlaterDawg said:Sark has talked himself into a corner. Expectations are higher than people here think. He will get fired if he goes 7-6.

Sadly, I think Sark will get another year regardless of his record. The drumbeat will be that the roster is young and he is still recruiting the talent for his system. We've heard it all before.

Same as it ever was until the coach fires himself. -
Unfortunately the front loaded schedules will probably give him the next two years.Meek said:if you can't see how Woody front loaded the schedule to ensure he gets his own extra year and mind-numbing severance check then I can't help you.

Really? Do you know something we don't?
Please god, let me be as negative as Grinolds says and the truth is Cream Puff gets crap canned with 7 wins.ACSlaterDawg said:Sark has talked himself into a corner. Expectations are higher than people here think. He will get fired if he goes 7-6.

Let me clarify...7-5 he'd get another year unless the bowl game is a disaster...6-6 I highly doubt it.
Displaced, we watched the 07 ASU game together and afterwords you thought they'd never fire Ty. I said it would happen the next season. Almost both of us were wrong if Emmert would have followed thru with his initial firing.
If they are 6-6, Sark will be fired for financial reasons alone...the big money will be pissed...no one is donating after four years of no improvement with an unproven coach in a new expensive stadium. Plus Fleenor thinks Sark won't be fired anytime soon. I rest my case.
-
Fleens heard about Sark getting fired during the battle of Jericho from his Jewish accountant guyACSlaterDawg said:Let me clarify...7-5 he'd get another year...6-6 I highly doubt it.

A few things needed to be cleaned up.

yes but it took an 0-12 season for Ty to fire himself. I remember the pre-season scuttlebutt on KJR in August 2008 speculating that Ty could keep his job even with a 5-7 or 4-8 season.... And had he gone 5-7 he would have almost definitely kept his job.
