He does cover WRs, a lot like how Peters and Sidney Jones did - very similar style as them, and he's got very good recovery speed. Hampton might be the diamond in this class.
Not a fan tbh. Kentrell Love's hudl is straight up porn compared to this kid. If we still get Gordon and Irvin it's kind of whatever but I feel like we should aim much higher than this.
Who cares how tall he is when his hudl puts you to sleep? This whole tall corner fad is bullshit anyway. Pete Carroll somehow convinced himself that the only reason he couldn't play in the pros is because he's short, so he drafted a bunch of tall corners, exactly one of which turned out good.
Get good players first. After that you can care about what traits you want.
He is a project, probably won't be ready till 2020
Won't be needed until at least then.
If he's the best corner in the class I'll be a bit concerned. As the number two he'll be fine.
Jordan Miller 2.0 except he'll get to redshirt.
Top Arizona cornerback Dominique Hampton out of Centennial High School, AZ committed to UW today over offers from the likes of Oregon, Arizon, and Colorado. He is a consensus 3 star recruit and is listed at 6'2" and 180 pounds. He earned his Husky offer after he camped with the Huskies.
Top corner in the state of Az.
He's no Byron Murphy.
I do like that were pulling an occasion kid from AZ though. Can't remember the last year we got two. Lakes taken two in three classes himself.
Chincramental progress.
I enjoy getting Arizona recruits because both Arizona schools want so badly to put a fence around the state but Arizona kids just don't care- year after year after year.

Loves jr film was not that impressive compared to his sr film
I like his size, but wasn't blown away by the highlight film.
Yeah it's hard to gauge it when half the plays are just simple run defense, and the other half is just play that isn't flashy.
What you can see is the mobility and athleticism. Obviously that camp paid dividends for him.
I trust Jimmy Lake's opinion more than anyone on this bored...including me.
Bingo.
Lake's gotten mostly four star talent of late but the three stars he's pulled have turned out pretty well.
Here are his three stars
2014: SMFJ, JoJo Mac, Regulator, Lavon Washington, Brandon Lewis. Washington and Lewis were busts. Gardenhire was a contributor but #NothingSpecial before transferring. JoJo's gonna be a three year starter. SMFJ was a superstar. Overall not great but getting Jones and JoJo in a transition class is better than I would have expected.
2015: Jordan Miller and Ezekiel Turner. Turner's nothing special. Miller's gonna be a two year starter.
2016: Rapp Culture. Superstar. Almost doesn't count since we? knew he was better than a 3 star from the beginning.
That's four multi year starters including two superstars out of 8 3 stars.
Obviously the other component is Lake's development. But the dude has a serious eye for 3 star talent. Hopefully Hampton gets at least a year with him.

This.
I'd go further to say that the quality of any internet recruiting analysis anywhere is the equivalent to Dawgman. If Jimmy Lake starts a website while employed at UW, then I will change that stance.

Well the Seahawks have had some great defenses with tall corners. Jones and King were pretty good for the Dawgs last year as well.

All of those picks were day 3, they weren't supposed to be good.
Getting Richard Sherman and Byron Maxwell in the 5th and 6th respectively is a bad thing?
Looking at West Coast Corners, there's a huge drop off from the elite guys to the mid-low 3 stars. Among the 3 star guys, Lake clearly picked Hampton as his favorite. At this point you kinda have to trust Lake's evals, and it looks like he got the developmental DB that he wanted.
As long as we can get at least one of Gordon/Irvin/Addison this DB class is pretty good. And if we get two of them then this DB class is awesome. Hampton's nothing special though, hopefully his Senior tape shows whatever Lake saw in him at camp.
