Obviously very good, I don't know what makes DDY say he's the most important recruit in UW history. Is it about the player, or about conferring some light on the program, a symbol of our ascension? A referendum on OKG?
A sad day, and frustrating, particularly if you believe the rumors about negative recruiting. I'll still trust in Pete until the results tell me otherwise. I'll give him a chance to win his way.
For me it's really just timing. It's the combination of being so close to the top already, with two glaring talent weaknesses to this point (QB and edge rush) with the other of those weaknesses apparently addressed in Eason and Huard (and maybe Sirmon).
That leaves edge.
When you combine that with the struggles to get 5 star commits, struggles to get elite black kids, and the plethora of in state studs coming behind Smalls, he just seemed positioned to address damn near every weakness this program has had.
Instead he's going to be the poster child for them.

I'd buy more into the racist slant shit if Garfield wasn't filled with 41% white students and 17% asian students (numbers that have continually gotten larger). Or the fact that instead of going to say, Highline, Evergreen, or Tyee, he is going to a fucking private school with the highest population of white kids in that part of the greater Puget sound region. UW as a school actually enrolls more black students per capita than there are black people per capita in the state (at least when I checked a year ago). For obvious reasons, these numbers balloon for football, basketball, track, and men's golf (lol).
Smalls clearly has an issue, but I still doubt it's about OKG being racist. If his problem is with racism at all, I would wager it's a lot more likely he just happened to stumble across this board: a collection of people who clearly think racism is funny, where the ratio of black posters to prominent white posters claiming to be black (with flowing blonde locks in one case) is apparently 0:3, and where you can read several dissertations on the racism inherent in the OKG system.
This forum claims to be the vanguard of high standards and accountability in UW football and football recruiting. Ironically, there's probably no bigger source of negative recruiting material against UW than what can be found here. Quiet conversations by oregon's staff are easily covered up, and hard to prove. I ABSOLUTELY think cristobal would recruit like this. He is a piece of shit, and would have no trouble denying the awful lies he makes about Petersen and the UW program. And, he probably only says such things to a small number of recruits who are dumb enough to believe him. It's surely not a widespread tactic.

According to the guy who first started talking about this on dawgman, Smalls apparently has now also taken shots at and insulted current UW players and UW has shut the door on him. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds but something really set this kid off.
