This thread totally redeemed the creepy spooge thread from last night, thanks Swaye.

The defense was average at best. Not great like so many seemed to think. So there's that.

An average defense is good enough to beat Cal.
I believe I said average AT BEST. But yeah. The point is that the D is vastly overrated by most of this bored.

5 turnovers. Key fumbles by WRs and Warshington.

Our defense caved on 3rd downs. Lack of pressure and poor coverage resulted in cal having a 50% 3rd down conversion rate. Incredibly high.

    Horrible blocking by our o-line.

    Browning bad decisions.

Babushka deserves a shoe in the bag...so does Kawasaki.

    That's it.

One more question. I was pretty high on our secondary...was the poor coverage a result of the lack of pressure/time for Goff to find guys, or was it just poor coverage?
We got pressure on Goff sporadically, but when it counted (3rd down) cal was able to convert. 50% conversion is very high.

DL - Really lacking a run stuffing DT. Need someone who commands a double team there. A lot of these guys are undersized. Ends are inconsistent with the pass rush. They'll get pushed around if we ever face a real OL.

LB - A couple good players. A few that totally suck. Clay comes to mind. Shitty in zone coverage and not quick enough to the gaps on run plays. Victor is a man.

DB - Strength of the defense. A bit soft at times. They get beat on inside slants too often and the Cal receivers did a good job of getting between us and the ball. Gotta make a hit on those or get under their arms.

Shitty tackling all around, but at least they forced some turnovers and improved in the 2nd half.

The defense didn't lose the game. Turnovers, fucktarded play calling and fucktarded play by the offense did.
    Mostly offense and turnovers, yes.

But dude, cal had 500 fucking yards of offense and their QB threw for 350. You can't win games if your defense doesn't get off the field on 3rd down.
The defense gave up 23 net points, but still.

But a good defense could have won us that game, in spite of the offense.

It takes a great defense to score multiple touchdowns in a game.
Or just be good in both halves. Gave up over 300 yards in the first half and let them drive on that first possession in the 2nd half.

My Bears really stepped up with our defense. Forced 5 turnovers.

Good luck the rest of the way out, Dawgs

First drive 2nd half, was the cal wr push-off for the td wasn't it?

Like I said. The secondary is a bit soft for my liking. Cal WR didn't get caught so good on him.
