I forgot to mention the perfect Oregon story was in the Bruce Feldman book about a year recruiting with Coach O and Ole Miss and Coach O talks about recruiting a guy named Kenny Rowe but stopping because he was creeped out by how sketchy he was. Spoiler alert: Rowe ended up at Oregon. -

In your hypothetical a players only choice is to play for Washington around the Willingham years or play for Oregon? I obviously always want a talented instate player to play for UW and if they don't leave the Pac-12 or at least leave the region. Slice it however you want but there's nothing funnier than a printed book saying a guy was too sketchy to recruit and he ends up at Oregon.
I'll never defend the bad eggs of the Neuheisel years and previous other than saying at least UW wanted to win at that point, and sure, Washington has had plenty more bad eggs since then. In UW's unfortunate defense they really put an effort into correcting that shit after it happened. I'll also defend Oregon and say the amount of shady player shit has gone way down, though I think a lot of that is just society overall. Now they just recruit the biggest douchebags on the planet.
