Imagine if DeBoer was breaking in 50ish new players in 2022.
Not that it needed to be said because of how the rest of the next 1.5 seasons went, but the UCLA loss to Chip Kelly was really fucking bad. DeBoer and Grubb have no answer when Penix can't thread the needle between 2-3 defenders on a given night.
I was hoping that it would be a limp dick 7-9 win season but it looks like a straight rebuild because the o line needs to combine some of the actual huff recruits with Jedd's own 2024 o line recruits and develop for another year.
It is what it is. This isn't a Jimmy Lake squad and I won't drag on with the aspects of his team that were just straight up broken on offense. This offense was just inherently un-clutch and it's on coaching that they went 0fer in all the critical plays and had to kick 4 field goals and turn it over on downs at the 2.
I do think that the B1G middle/lower teams still really, really lack where our offense doesn't: skill players and quarterback. We can still pass our way to a decent season if Fisch wakes up on his play calling.
And the defense is in decent shape. Still looking forward to conference play. I didn't really even have a bad time at the game and thought we were always going to pull it out and it was the 2023 Apple Cup 2.0. Just choked at the end.
For the record, not the least bit impressed but they basically play in the Mountain West now and you could easily run the table with that schedule not even being that good. I can't think of many games at least not recently where a team had to do less to win a game.
^ This. The only program in the Big 10 that makes me hold my breath is Buck, and the only other program that makes me at least blink is Penn State at home. Of the old crew, SC and Oregon will be tough outs, but doable. Literally no excuse for losing to UCLA so I don't want to hear about curses. That program is fucking lucky SC brought them along because they are not a football school anymore.
Don't twist. The move to the Big 10 is a move to an overall better conference. Better positioning, better future, etc. But I'm not scared in the least, even after Cuog. They ought to be scared of the new kids because the middle of that conference is going to get pushed down a tier, and we? at various times will challenge for the top. You'll see. Buck is the target. No denying that point. After that? Don't get me started on Michigan. I've never been a real believer. Guess which Big 10 coach went 2-8 in the Rose Bowl to the Pac 10 conference champs? FTGs. Nobody should be worried about Sparty, Iowa, Nebraska, N'Western, Wisky. Fucking Cuog beat Wisky at home last year. Cuog.
How does dumbfuck play calls show up on the stat sheet?
Can we text in results play-by-play?
Here's the most alarming stat. 4 field goals and 1 touchdown. Did Peterman have play calling duties during the game?
Should have gone for it on at least 2 of the drives that ended up as field goals.
I only value the geopolitical opinions of the real intellectuals such as Taylor Swift and Alyssa Milano.
