D2D should just admit he didn't get a battlefield commission. It's clear he was an Officer in the USMC, and who cares if he wasn't slogging it out with Charlie every day. He did his part. And that's cool. I did my part in Iraq, which wasn't near as much as the motherfuckers on the ground in Ramadi and other places did. I have no problem admiting that. Doesn't make me think any less of myself. It's cool, I did my part. We don't all have to be war heroes. Military needs the supply corp and lawyers too.
2 things. The reason my kids are so old is because I got them half way grown and my wife had them when she was a teen so that threw off my calculations.
I'll do something never before seen here and admit I was wrong on that. I like to bash boomers as much as the next guy but we did some good things too. We taught America how to party.
This whole dividing the country by generation is hurtful and adds to the pain the millennials are suffering. They see a future that doesn't look as bright as the present.
Boomer moved out of mom's basement and could hope to work and get a better house. Millennials don't want to leave that house. Can you blame them? Their parents enable them. My wife was at the kids high school graduation with their bags packed.
There are some pretty soft folks but keep in mind millennials have been fighting our wars lately. And yes, boomers are by and large the stupid fucks that won't let them win the wars.
I was switching cell phones and went through 2 millennials before the manager was able to help me. Yes I am an asshole but I wasn't being one that day. I was simply trying to help the kid with some tips on customer service and he damn near started crying.
I think women are tougher than men these days and I think there may be something to the war on boys in the school system we have heard about for years. The chickens are coming home to roost
I'll play my own two things game here.
1. You can have kids at a young age and care for them without asking for handouts or bitching about the system being unfair or forming a campus coalition against rape culture? Who knew?
2. You fucks didn't teach America how to party. You didn't hold classes to teach the youngins the proper way to handle uppers and downers. I'm pretty sure there are some lost generations from the 1800s that would back me up on this, with their legal opiates, cocaine and hookers.
And one more thing (or two). You should have told that fucking phone jockey to go do door to door sales on pure commission for a few summers until he can grow a pair. Also, the great recession is the best thing ever to happen to millennials. Those without mommy and daddy willing to bail them out grew up real quick. I still think we need a good war and draft to finish the job, but still.

I'm calling bullshit on his entire military service. Fucker claims to have gone to law school in the 1990s, yet he also claims to have fought in Vietnam. Really he's just a low rent finance salesman who lives in Montana and has delusions of grandeur. Or at least that's what I'm hearing via @NSA_Dawg

I have no idea about any of that. If D2D made all of this shit up then he is a worthless fuck. I hope he didn't. I guess I was more addressing why lots of former military, who served honorably, feel the need to make themselves into Rambo 30 years after the fact. If you cleaned latrines the whole fucking war, good on you. Not everyone is a heavy machine gunner with 40 confirmed kills and a silver star with V for valor. The Army needs ditch diggers too, and that shit IS important to the effort. That's all I am saying.
And statistically speaking, it is very doubtful that anyone on this bored is one of the handfuls of truly bad ass motherfuckers who got a battlefield commission in the USMC during Vietnam. So admit it if that is the case. "Hey, I went to law school and got a commission and watched the war in the rear with the gear." Fine by me, thanks for your service. Just don't make it more than it really was.
I have trouble believing that a former commissioned officer would make up such bullshit claims, but I've seen stranger things. On that line of reasoning alone, I highly doubt d2d ever served.
Marines are probably the least likely to puff up their claims, since the vast majority of USMC are combat arms and have no need of puffery.
You see more of that shit in the Air Force where the vast majority don't do shit, and some in the Army where there are lots of combat support and combat service support guys. Although in IZ and AF plenty of CS and CSS guys have been getting CABs because of the nature of the fight has changed. Most of the Navy is on a boat somewhere, but plenty get into the fight: EOD, Seabees, all the USMC combat medics are sailors, plus aviators.
Anyone who uses the phrase "REMF" hasn't been paying attention.
But Swaye nails it - everyone has a role to play. I still kinda resent people going to Kuwait and getting a combat patch but that's about it.

AZ's like 100 in REAL duck years. Show some respect to our bored's only rep from the Greatest Fucking Generation.
you really shouldn't hotlink Facebook photos on this bored
Only a matter of time until I get that list of 63 names. I'm guessing a certain frequent poaster on this bored won't be on the list.
Interesting language... "who in due time were promoted to 2nd Lieutenant." I'm sure you don't have a fucking clue what that means. I do because I lived it. So, fuck off.
Instead of being obsessed with me, maybe you should direct your worthless Duck education towards pan handlers who claim to be homeless vets. I actually stop and offer them a ride to the VA hospital where they can get checked out and fed. So far I've done it about 10 times and still haven't found one that's really a vet. The only homeless vets I know live out in the woods and want to be left alone.
BTW those vets need toiletries, food, and some clean warm clothes, if you're interested in doing something positive rather than whining like a millennial little bitch. Just follow the river upstream in Sultan and you'll have no problem finding them.
Gee, the Hipster Douche Bags have really shown up for this thread...

Somebody likes too much war imagery as their profile picture
