Drawing on nothing but my innate rightness, I think this is mostly bullypulpit (ironic) stuff. No US Marshals are going to be escorting congregants into church. However, deeming it a essential service Federally and ensconcing into the hallowed writ of CDC Guidelines, he's giving ammunition to open defiance (bad optics for governors) and lawsuits against states. Probably a no-looser for Trump as a political maneuver.

I've said from the beginning that something (allegedly) this threatening to health, welfare and safety of US citizens has "executive branch" written all over it. The WH is either in charge of this or it's not. It's not a sometimes thing. Own it or delegate.

Trump's supporters laud his directness and his flouting of convention and his record for 'Just Do Something'. And those are, indeed, qualities in Trump.

But, of course, all of these stay-at-home orders, and related federal support for various things, like healthcare, emergency funds, etc., has been terribly controversial. All you have to do is spend 5 minutes in the Tug and you can easily find 1,000 posts bitching about the government. Of course, in the Tug, it's most fun to focus on the liberal west coast governors. But I ask, not rhetorically, who the fuck is in charge here? Inslee? Really?

During a war, we know the governors are not in charge and give two fucks what they say. What's the deal here? Is the fed in charge or are they rightfully deferring to the states on some legal theory that this rightly at matter of state sovereignty?

My observation is that Trump, and his fans, tend to vacillate on this point. Simply focusing on religion, which is politically brilliant but practically stupid, is convenient, but not at all helpful. Let me be clear on this point: if I think this is all an overreaction to a small problem, and my life is being ruined (luckily that's not happening to me ... yet) because of 'stay at home', and I think that this is all state government overreach, then I'm saying this:

WHERE DA FUCK YOU AT DON? OVERRULE THESE FUCKING CLOWNS AND OPEN THIS SHIT UP. YESTERDAY.

So, why isn't there a bigger battle cry and appeal to the fed? If he can force the church issue, then why can't he force everything else?

That is my point.
