I'd love for you to back up your assertion that he's top 10ish for his career with any sort of objective metric.
I already gave you the players top 100 perspective.
Pro Bowl: 2012: 1 of 11 (last NFL alternate so you could argue as low as 11th) 2013: 1 of 6 originally selected 2014: 1 of 6 originally selected 2015: 1 of 6 originally selected, starter 2016: Not selected 2017: 1 of 6 originally selected 2018: 1 of 12 (first NFC alternate, so you could argue as low as 10th) 2019: 1 of 6 originally selected, selected as starter 2020: 1 of 6 originally selected 2021: 1 of 10 (second NFC alternate, you could argue as low as 10th)
Brady has been to 9 Pro Bowls in that time. Rodgers has been to 8. Brees went to 7 in his 9 years of this span.
Big Ben went to 6...total in his career. Matt Ryan's been to 4 total. Mahomes has been to 4 straight. Eli went to 4 total. Lamar's been to 2 in 4 seasons. Cam made 3. Matt Stafford and Josh Allen have been to 1.
Russ has firmly been inside the top 10 the vast majority of his career, and is probably around an average of the 5th best QB at any given point in his career. I get you don't like the guy and that's fine. He's not especially likable.
I doubt you have any real argument for his as "top 10ish" for his career. You certainly don't have any argument for "pretty good at best". At his best he's absolutely the elite of the elite. I agree he's not been that consistently. But he's been a lot better than pretty good, and certainly better than pretty good at best.
Good enough to win a SB with an elite defense. Good enough to also lose a SB with an elite defense. Their playoff record since then was laughable with wins against very suspect teams, as was pointed out. Top-10 during his era, yes, but I would have him closer to 10 than 1. I don't think he's HOF material at all, but I seem to have higher standards than many people because I also think Eli should not get in and that more than half the guys in Halls of Fame are not really deserving.
Eli shouldn't be near the HOF but he won the Super Bowl twice! And New Yawk
Any Hooks able to now admit that he's nowhere close to HOF material?
He was consistently a top 3 to 8 QB for 10 years. He earned it. That said, I appreciate what he did, but seeing him fall to pieces in Dumbver is funny. The 5-10 Lambs destroyed them yesterday. You can tell Carroll had enough of him by reading between the lines.
I mean I don't think he's an evil human being but people always overlook the phony, corny, and cringe shit when you're winning and 12-4, not when you're 7-10 and whine about the o line on national radio shows.
I think Russ was on his way to being an HOF QB in Seattle
He wanted more control, and wanted more money, and got both. Be careful of getting what you think you want..
Russ bristled at being called a "game manager" while in reality, it appears that Pete was a QB manager, and a very successful one. Pete (and others) built this guy's career, and he turned into "Carrollstein's Monster"...
AAAAAND...What coach in their right mind would want to deal with that mess? When "Your partner" is the QB, and we all know that it is easier to fire the coach than the QB...Pete was playing 3D chess, for several years...
I think that whoever takes it, the first call should be to Schotty or Bevel. Someone that knows what they are getting into, and that has dealt with Russ before, when he was good. It’s a freak show. I don’t know if Sean Payton is gonna want to sign up for that…

My guess it’s going to be Dan Quinn HC and Schotty OC. They both are on the Cowboys coaching staff and it makes too much sense. Denver has an elite defense (Russ fucked them over early with shit field position and they gave up yesterday) and Russ’s best years were with Schotty calling playing.
Sean Payton isn’t a big enough of an idiot to take over that dumpster fire. He will get paid handsomely wherever he coaches next, he does not want to go to that situation in Denver unless he’s pulling a Tyrone Willingham and just collecting a check.
Russ gets this year as bad as he has been because of his overall body of work but if he has another year even close to this with a brand new staff then he might not be playing in the NFL in a couple of years.
Quinn is listed with the expectation that Schotty would go with him. The FS article though lists Payton as the number one choice while saying he’s not likely to go there.

As of right now, Hawks with #3 pick overall, and then somewhere around #14 in first round and then around #35 in second round.
