Despite having 4* recruits throughout the depth chart, our D line was absolutely gashed in all the games last year except Zona. On many plays,, Utah and Stanford's RBs could have picked up 5+ yards against our defensive line if they were walking. I kind of wonder if this was part of the reason Malloe was moved.

The good news is they are supposedly hitting a lot more in camp and are aware we need to be more physical.

I think it would have gotten better in time, but when you give up short passes because of scheme, it amplifies the need to shut down the run.

I feel scheme was a bigger factor, and I think we saw that as half-time adjustments between the first and second halves of Ute and Furd
Scheme and piss poor reads and run fits by the linebackers and safeties. The DL isn't always to blame for bad run defense. They're not the ones who should be making all the tackles.

Ulofoshio was good, Sirmon was horrible, Tafisi is as fast as thick mud, and Turner struggled with his vagina flaring up.

Petersen could have coached for 20 more years at 8 and 5 to 10 and 3

The fear of a lot of folks here about Jimmy

    Jimmy doesn't have that capital

    Lucky Pete quit.

I agree except that Jimmy is a black man and UW is UW. Ty got two years too many and that was pre-woke'ism. If Jimmy sucks he still gets 6 years.
    100%

in the woke 2020's, there is zero chance a black coach gets fired unless he molestes a kid.

Did Kevin Sumlin diddle kids? Willie Taggart? Charlie Strong?
Strange comment that isn’t true. Coaches that don’t win get fired. If Jimmy goes .500 the next two years he’s out.

I do think 8-4 type seasons get him at least 5 years.

I call for a final judgement on @BleachedAnusDawg.

What does this even mean? Is this a nerdy Game of Thrones thing?

Taggart and Strong got canned before the woke stuff blew up. They also coached in the South, not the PNW.

The Ty situation was unique because Notre Dame had already gotten tons of flak for axing him after 3 years…

    Like they should’ve.

This is the brother of Eastern Washington receiver Andrew Boston who has been a 3rd team Big Sky receiver his last two seasons. I thought Andrew Boston would have been a solid Pac 12 player and I think that Denzel will be too. He looks to have good speed and good ball skills. A lot of his big play highlights are him catching contested jump balls down the field which is something we've lacked in our WR room for a while now.

He does look a little stiff to me which isn't the end of the world. If he has good straight line speed and can catch jump balls than he'll be valuable to us after 2-3 seasons of development. He has a similar skill set to Ty Jones but I think Ty Jones is a little better athlete and is a better "run after the catch" guy but they both have great downfield ball skills.

Ty Jones caught jump balls because he could never get separation consistently. He also dropped way more than he caught.
He didn’t catch very many jump balls. Cuntslice is right. Jones sucked.
Parents of recruits read these boards. Thank you.

I read that at first as getting flak like they should have but I assume you mean axing him after 3 years like they should have?

    It's hard.

Heard he's torn between Saint Francis school for the blind or UW. Gonna be a tough fight but maybe Jimmy can pull it off
