Beating a horse here I know, but how in the fuck is the cupboard so shockingly bare in the secondary. Got 5 DBs on board for the class and its possible every fucking one plays a lot next year.
First off the heir apparent to the NFL corners is playing and balling out at USC. It was tough to loose him in the portal as he would have obviously started this year in front of Erving, and is probably one of two players who would have had this team undefeated and in the playoffs
That’s a bit of high praise for Covington. 17 tackles, 4 passes defended and 0 picks this year for a bad SC defense. Sounds like he would have fit right in with the guys shuffling in and out at UW this year.
I think 4 PDs is more than any of our DBs
Tuli Letuligasenoa had 4 PD.
UW needs a new DL so they can get him back in coverage more. I don't think any UW dbs came within two arm lengths of a pass breakup... At least not four times.

Dom Hampton also had 4 PBUs so I nominate Dom and Tuli as the lockdown corners for 2023.

The lack of talent has been called out for years as Jimmy stopped recruiting and the two idiots he had coaching in the secondary couldn’t recruit to save their lives

I almost get the impression Jimmy thought he was such a fantastic DB coach that he intentionally recruited 2nd rate talent (w/ respect) to prove that he could "coach" them up. Seems like a Jimmy move to me

Cliff Harris was poison on the recruiting trail for some reason. Petersen's appeal to recruits and families was obviously what carried the DB recruiting until he left.
Love or don't love the kids tape and intangibles it's probably a good thing for optics if nothing else to make sure the top rated recruits in the state 1. Go to UW 2. Don't go to Oregon

Yeah, its definitely good for optics. By the same token, I don't get why we're giving so little attention to Limar and letting him flip to our rivals. Like..... just take the local 4* guy. If he sucks he can portal.

I'm generally in the camp of taking the top few guys in the state if you can even if they aren't your favorites or a position of need. I'm dooging on this one and assume they like Tybo more and it's as simple as that. One thing we'll have to consider with RB recruiting as long as DeBoer is at UW is if they think the kid wants to and can pass pro. No idea if this kid is the world's best at pass pro or refuses to do it. Just a thing.
I think Oregon would take me if I had a four star rating on 247 so there he goes.

I like that this thread is talking about taking local 4*s because it looks good and in the Junior Alexander thread we talk about how the local 4*s suck

I get this but losing the top instate recruit to your chief rival two years in a row is a bad look. At least secure number one every year even if you know he isn’t as good as your three star from Texas. Not saying Presley isn’t a good player. Don’t twist.

Those aren’t mutually exclusive poonts. You can think the local 4 stars suck but still take a few to bolster your chances with the local 5 stars when they pop up. Having local kids on the team is important for perception.
