But the evaluation cycle for this year is fucked. For all we know, this kid could’ve gotten offers if he was able to compete in the spring camp circuit
“I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the local recruits. Shoot, I feel the same way about Northern California kids, I knew who Robert Wyrsch was before a lot of coaches did.
But I hadn't heard anything about Finau until this afternoon. In fact, the last player in the database from Renton HS graduated in 2000. So for some who might have said "he would have blown up this spring in the evaluation period", not sure I'd agree because I can't imagine many coaches would have made Renton HS a priority...
His film isn't bad, I kind of liked it a lot.
I hit a couple schools who recruit this area and they hadn't heard of him and even Ryland Spencer, who knows every HS football player in the state said he was just marginally on his radar.
So this kid wasn't at all on my radar.” -
That’s a tough battle, but I agree. There will always be guys that commit later based on easier playing time, the place they committed signed two more guys at their position, the head coach is fired, they are committed to a shitty school, etc.bananasnblondes said:Again, if recruiting is going this terribly, I'd rather Jimmy just shut it down and sit on his hands until the season starts and see if you can catch fire and get some momentum going again. You can get guys like this by offering them the day before signing day even if they are already committed to Central or PLU or whatever.
It reeks of lazy coaching, a quitters mentality, or both. -
Who doesn't?bananasnblondes said:

Good. Now someone can create the recruiting profile thread for this guy.DoogWhisperer said:Undersized DTU

Huffman also noted that he reached out to JTT to get his thoughts on this commitment and JTT told him he didnt know who this kid was

Not sure where he saw this but Dawg101 on BDTW posted that sonics says Lake offered this kid out of frustration/panic because Schuster got cold feed about committing today. If this is true it's a HUGE red flag about Lake. The lack of discipline and desperation of this move does not bode well to how he'll perform as an in game coach.
-
I'm pretty sure he was misreading my comment from earlier in the thread. I was trying to say that sonics reported that Shuster committed but he took my pondering that followed as being something else sonics said, which he didntinsinceredawg said:Not sure where he saw this but Dawg101 on BDTW posted that sonics says Lake offered this kid out of frustration/panic because Schuster got cold feed about committing today. At least he plays on the varsity team.
-
Another weird thing is that this kid announced his commitment over an hour ago and theres literally nothing out there about him. 247 posted a very generic commitment report with no interview. No comments from coaches. No back story on how he ended up suddenly getting an offer. No one really even knows what position this kid is being slated for.

Any chance they recruited him for OL?
PWOOF?
Any reason not to jump off a bridge? -
Relax and wait for Ballz to chime in. Likely a high 4 star.

How is he ranked a 3 star if he's not on any recruiting sites and nobody has heard of the kid?

Pretty sure a Power 5 offer gives you an auto 3 star in at least some of the systems now.BleachedAnusDawg said:How is he ranked a 3 star if he's not on any recruiting sites and nobody has heard of the kid?

This is the only explanation I can come up with. There's a good chance there won't be a HS season this fall so coaches now have to make educated guesses on which under the radar type kids would have blown up this year. Once they identified this kid, they decided he's a take no matter what and offered him now to avoid the possible scenario of someone else swooping him.NEsnake12 said:

JFC I can't believe I convinced myself to believe that Doog bullshit. Fuck Jimmy and fuck this coaching staff.

Ballz’s top D-lineman out West:
1. JT Tuimoloau
2. Korey Foreman
3. Kuao Peihopa
4. Tiaoalii Savea
5. Voi Tunuufi
6. Jacob Schuster
Getting four of the top-6 won’t be bad eh.
I wonder what slot Ballz will slide Siaosi into. -
I always knew ballz was some cracker's alt too, I just didnt know it was yours. Seemed too verbose to be you.FireCohen said:
