@sonics1993 what is going on here? Please give us some good news. This seems extremely bad
-
It’s like Trump...when you think it can’t get any worse. Hahahahahah.
-
Or we are maybe going with a more traditional 4-3 look? Tuitele, Tryon, Draco, Latu, etc that can put their hand down. Like you I am stunned.bananasnblondes said:So either we are having a ton of attrition on the d line or we are tapping out on JTT early

I think the guy looks decent, but the implications are alarming.
-
Fuck shoot me
-
Why accept his commitment so early though? You could wait till the last day and offer him and he’s coming no matter what. Is jimmy that
-
Not only “why accept his commitment now” but why the fuck are we offering players like this in June period?!
Fuck this shit staff...low t beta bitches -
Yeah, the one position it seems we are ok at recruiting wise is d-line, we have limited spots, with 3 guys already committed and are going for 2 more big time guys that we have a good shot at, then out of the blue we take this guy???Quietcowskee said:I think the guy looks decent, but the implications are alarming.
My only guess is that, like sonics said, Shuster committed, then backed out, and Jimmy immediately offered some other local guy out of frustration. This is absolutely mind-boggling -
Yeah this kid doesn't suck, but the handling of Schuster is baffling
-
Ektard says he was just offered today. Hopefully he isn't the one that sonics and others have been teasing.
-
As others have said, maybe you take this kid on a NLI day flyer depending how other dominoes fall, but taking this commitment now is a horrifying red flag.
-
I may be in the minority but I would rather have him than Schuster. We have plenty of interior guys. This guy can play both inside/outside. He gives us more speed and versatility on the edge.

Look, the optics aren't great and the timing is weird, but if there's one position to trust these coaches and LIPO, it's DL. You bridge jumpers need to take a step back ffs.
-
Yeah, it's not like we had a walk-on starting on the DL last year or anything...CallMeBigErn said:Look, the optics aren't great and the timing is weird, but if there's one position to trust these coaches and LIPO, it's DL. You bridge jumpers need to take a step back ffs.

Yeah and he wasn't terrible. Our DL is absolutely loaded with talent. You really think the coaches are throwing in the flag and taking this guy for the fuck of it?DoogWhisperer said:

But the evaluation cycle for this year is fucked. For all we know, this kid could’ve gotten offers if he was able to compete in the spring camp circuit -
The problem is we seem to be the only offer. So as others have said why take him so early if we’re only up against ourselves.CallMeBigErn said:

I'm sorry for wanting something better than "wasn't terrible". Also, besides Levi what the hell have they proven?CallMeBigErn said:

They struck out last recruiting class and they've reached this recruiting class. Malloe's 1 big recruiting year is looking more like an outlier than anything. Don't forget that he was on Bob Gregory tier to ppl before that year. -
This is why it’s so weird. Schuster has a grey shirt offer a month or two ago. We already have two pretty good DL commits.bananasnblondes said:

I loved the Wysch commitment and I feel better about guys completely unknown than shitty three star recruits with offers from WAC teams and Arizona, but this is strange. -
He would have been if Cal had offered today instead of us.DawgFader said:

I'm fighting the good fight. Kneejerk reactions and overwhelming pessimism is not "hardcore" despite how much this site validates that garbage. At first glance its an odd pickup, but there has to be a solid reason. I fucking hate jumping to conclusions without proper diagnosis. Has Coach K and Malloe not earned a little trust around here? Maybe Jimmy isn't opposed to kicking dudes to the curb if a better guy comes down the pipe. Maybe they, god forbid, like this guy. What a concept. Who the fuck knows? 6'4 270 DE. LIPO. -
Again, if recruiting is going this terribly, I'd rather Jimmy just shut it down and sit on his hands until the season starts and see if you can catch fire and get some momentum going again. You can get guys like this by offering them the day before signing day even if they are already committed to Central or PLU or whatever.
It reeks of lazy coaching, a quitters mentality, or both. -
Two good classes, three where he didn’t even participate... JT makes this class and he’s then shooting .500DoogWhisperer said:

WTF... read this and felt way too doog. Won’t happen. -
Just to clarify, I was not suggesting that sonics said the bolded part, just that he reported Shuster had committed. Someone on BDTW is taking my poorly worded guess as what sonics actually said. Apologize for the confusion.bananasnblondes said:

Just checked my phone specifically to see if the commit was made public yet.
I'm fucking speechless at this point.

“I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the local recruits. Shoot, I feel the same way about Northern California kids, I knew who Robert Wyrsch was before a lot of coaches did.
But I hadn't heard anything about Finau until this afternoon. In fact, the last player in the database from Renton HS graduated in 2000. So for some who might have said "he would have blown up this spring in the evaluation period", not sure I'd agree because I can't imagine many coaches would have made Renton HS a priority...
His film isn't bad, I kind of liked it a lot.
I hit a couple schools who recruit this area and they hadn't heard of him and even Ryland Spencer, who knows every HS football player in the state said he was just marginally on his radar.
So this kid wasn't at all on my radar.”
