And it is patently absurd to say that the civil war wasn’t wholly driven by the south and their economic dependency on the institution of slavery.

That's news to me. The north and the south had such drastically different economies and the south originally thought Lincoln had no fucking chance to win the presidency, so when he did they thought they would have no representation and there was no longer any reason to be a part of the union. I thought we were talking history here, feeling a lot of personal attacks against me. Might have to summon the mods.dnc said:
Because a. It's a lie. and b. That lie has been used for 150 years to justify all kinds of nonsense.haie said:
Why do people get emotional over this? I hate the south. But the civil war wasn't over slavery.dnc said:
Yeah this is revisionist bullshit. Read what the defectors said at the time of secession, not what they said to cast themselves as the victims years later. Read the declarations of secession. Read the cornerstone speech.haie said:
It was because the South didn't feel they would have a voice in the union anymore. It wasn't fought over slavery.dnc said:It wasn't a war fought to perpetuate slavery, it was a war fought to free the fucking slaves. Which it did, incidentally.
The Civil War has a much better racial connotation than say, the name Oregon or Oregon State.

The Confederacy was entirely about slavery. -
You dumb fucks have read a few Google articles on it. Try majoring in it at liberal UW who has no reason not to say, "The South went to war to keep slaves." They didn't though, because that's what lazy people think that don't really give a shit about history.thechatch said:And it is patently absurd to say that the civil war wasn’t wholly driven by the south and their economic dependency on the institution of slavery.

You still haven't addressed the actual Declarations of Secession or the Cornerstone Speech.haie said:

For twenty-five years this agitation has been steadily increasing, until it has now secured to its aid the power of the common Government. Observing the forms of the Constitution, a sectional party has found within that Article establishing the Executive Department, the means of subverting the Constitution itself. A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that that "Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free," and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction.
This sectional combination for the submersion of the Constitution, has been aided in some of the States by elevating to citizenship, persons who, by the supreme law of the land, are incapable of becoming citizens; and their votes have been used to inaugurate a new policy, hostile to the South, and destructive of its beliefs and safety.
On the 4th day of March next, this party will take possession of the Government. It has announced that the South shall be excluded from the common territory, that the judicial tribunals shall be made sectional, and that a war must be waged against slavery until it shall cease throughout the United States.
The guaranties of the Constitution will then no longer exist; the equal rights of the States will be lost. The slaveholding States will no longer have the power of self-government, or self-protection, and the Federal Government will have become their enemy. -

The Confederate statues might be racist, distasteful etc., but now Lincoln, Warshington, and Teddy is gone, Grant is gone, and in six months it'll be LBJ. Stop appeasing the woke faggots. They won't stop.
