On the dawgman bored they interviewed him and this came from it "I was impressed with the facilities. The different services that are available for athletes was great -- recovery pools, orthopedic specialists, and even orthodontists. The campus was beautiful. I had spent the day before exploring Seattle and absolutely loved the mixture of cultures there too."
Of course literally all the replies are commentary on him being "well spoken"
Can we add "orthodontics" to "public transportation" in our list of why kids love UW?
Lol. I could actually see how an orthodontist would be something a kid that can’t afford braces would like.

Is there anymore more "Built For Life" about this program than offering orthodontics to PSAs?
Surprised we don't also have financial advisors present on diversifying your 401k or how to help your parents select the right Medicare plan
Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola cornerback Zakhari Spears (6-2, 181), knew that his visit to Washington in January was going to be a good one.
Armed with an offer from the Huskies, Spears wanted to soak in the atmosphere and time in Seattle and see if it was a fit for him.
Not long after his visit, Spears became the second commit to the Huskies in the 2021 class- and the first to commit to new head coach Jimmy Lake.
Spears joined five-star quarterback Sam Huard, who committed in November of 2018, as early Husky pledges.
In fact, it was exactly one month before Lake was named the head coach, replacing departing Chris Petersen, that Spears was offered by the then-defensive coordinator Lake and cornerbacks coach Will Harris.
But the relationship had started during the summer.
"Since I came in to contact with Coach Jimmy and Coach Harris in June at their camp, I just fell in love with the program," said Spears. "They hadn’t offered me yet, but they send so many DBs to the league, the academics there are really high and it had everything I was looking for in a school, that I kind of knew when they offered me, that was where I would go."
So Spears returned in January and was able to check every box before announcing his commitment.
"I committed shortly after I took my unofficial there," said Spears. "It was important that I made my decision early. One thing about Washington is, they look at everyone the same and everyone has a chance if they're a team-first dude. Like Myles Bryant, he was a walk-on and a Loyola guy, but they looked at him as an important part of the team."
Spears said being on campus and seeing Husky Stadium as he took the tour of the school was impressive.
"It was really cool because the school is right next to the stadium so you don't have to go too far," said Spears.
Spears said that the Huskies were always on his short list and their offer solidified it.
And he said the promotion of Lake further clinched it with the Huskies.
"If he wasn't named the head coach, I would have probably still picked Washington, but the DB coach becoming the head coach, that was a big deal for me," said Spears.
With his commitment, Spears becomes the first out-of-state commit to the Huskies in this class and while it's a strong year in-state, he said he wants to help with their recruiting efforts in California.
"I haven’t really reached out to any one person, but I know I will be out there recruiting at camps and 7v7 and at my school and try to grow this recruiting class and continue to build something special," said Spears.
I'm all for the players and recruits tweeting at potential prospects. It's great for the UW brand.
When middle-aged, socially insecure men are tweeting videos of homemade high school football jerseys of 16 year old boys under their Christmas tree, I question its effectiveness

Careful, someone might threaten to kill themselves again
I haven’t seen one person make fun of recruits tweeting recruits
Oh no but I'm saying Spears probably wouldn't be doing it as much without some of the very enthusiastic members of UW Twitter
Maybe? Kalepo was pretty active publicly recruiting other recruits before UW Twitter really took off.
My stance has always been it can definitely help some and it can absolutely do a lot of damage. Over the long term I don't think it's beneficial for the emotionally unstable to be directly interacting with these kids while representing UW.

I think instead we should pretend that we are horny scantily clad coeds when we tweet at recruits. I think this could be effective.

It would also make the emo breakdowns more expected.

You’ve come along way... possibly your best work ever. @Emoterman can you please find us a few pics for our burner accounts of fake coeds

Better idea, we should all post like horny scantily clad coeds everywhere on HH.
Peer recruiting has always been important. Nobody has ever argued otherwise. “Husky Twitter” has very little, probably nothing, to do with this.
The tweets that say, “Come be the next Budda Baker” or “You remind me of Vita Vea,” “We need you to help us win a natty.” Those type of tweets are good and are flattering to recruits. Gifs of Huskies and “Go Dawgs” are pointless and stupid. There are differences.

This seems like such common sense advice to me. The cute little huskies, huskies lying in beach chairs, husky driving a red car, etc are some of the dumbest fucking gifs to tweet. You’re better off tweeting a pic of a past hip hop legend, who had zero to do with the program, flashing west side. At least the recruit might think that ones cool. I stick with the classic #WOOF which is great until you #WOOD a #WOOF.
