I heard this clip on Adam Carolla Show this morning so I went to get the full thing in context. Go to about 7:15 in the video.
https://youtu.be/p4ozAACcc8I

I applaud Bernie for making some money.
I fully support him paying the lowest effective tax rate possible.
Low charitable giving is somewhat consistent with socialist ideals.

But when he as a socialist candidate for president throws the question "Why don't you voluntarily pay 52% on your income?" back on the interviewer like that, shows he's full of shit. It's his proposal, not hers. He is completely full of shit. And not a very good politician or socialist. Can you imagine the political win he'd have if he voluntarily paid at the 52% rate. But he doesn't want to. Because that's his money. What a fucknut.

Forgot the best part, "Why don't you? You make more money than I do." There's always someone wealthier than Bernie to go after. Now that he has some principal, he has lost his principles.

Bernie's not rich is what I'm hearing. Anyone worth less than $10 million should be paying less in taxes sounds like a winning platform. I'm on board!

    lol

[Sanders had advice for Americans who want to join him in the upper ranks . “I wrote a best-selling book,” he told the New York Times. “If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too.”]

This is not some peripheral issue. Redistributive taxation is a central (committee?) issue for Bernie. And yet he throws that weak sauce deflection when he could have made a substantive answer. Bernie is not a person to be taken seriously.

Then he said it was because of privilege that he could be a Senator and take bribes disguised as book fees and he is fighting for a country where everyone can be a senator and write a book

But polling shows most Americans are in favor of someone else paying more taxes

If Bernie were just about tax fairness, I might support him. But he's not. He envisions a world that I want no part of, where stupid people who make bad decisions get repeatedly bailed out by the responsible people who suck it up and go to work everyday. If he wants to debate marginal tax rates and modifications to the IRS code that hides actual income as passive income, etc., I'm all in. But again, Bernie is all about feeding the FSA - Free Shit Army - and holding onto power forever like the Stalinist he is at heart.

Honest question for the Bernites, how do you trust your democratic-socialist ideals in the hands of this man?

"He didn't build that!" Sad to see how far Race Bannon has fallen.

That's the thing that really galls me. If someone is mentally ill, or physically unable to provide for themselves then I think that we should provide help for those people.

But how many people through their own shitty life choices now are asking for a handout? You chose to be a Fine Arts or Gender Studies major, good for you. But get your fucking hand out of my pocket because you feel you deserve to have your healthcare or college paid for by someone else. You chose to have kids out of wedlock and to abuse drugs and alcohol. Fuck you, You don't have a entitlement to my wealth.

Acknowledging, of course, that he'll be the first Comrade sent to Siberia after the coup d'etat by AOC's Red Army should he ever make it that far.

The idea that bob has wealth or anyone has their “hands in his pockets” is self-evidently absurd.

He also talks about taking the cap off of Social Security taxes, so that we can give more money to retirees.

There are people I know who are my age who make more money than I make, some make less but they have little to no money saved for their retirement. Many of these people have been on fabulous family vacations, and many of them drive really nice cars, far nicer than any car I've owned, yet they've saved next to nothing for their retirement years.

Why the fuck should I have to pay more in SS taxes so that I can subsidize these people? I've intentionally never purchased a new car. Every car I've owned I've driven for at least 10 years, some of them longer. I had a 4Runner that finally had to get rid of that I had for 20 years, as a family we haven't done the weeks long vacation to Hawaii or Europe because it's too damn expensive to take a family of 5 on that kind of vacation and I'd rather put that money toward my retirement and the kids college.

So why is it that people like me, who have done without and saved are going to punished in order to subsidize the people who didn't save? Fuck that and fuck Bernie.

You sound poor and whiney. Hawaii is fucking awesome and relaxing. You should try it.

And if you truly do make over $128k (I very highly doubt it), and you can't save for retirement, drive a new car every few years, and go on week long vacations, you are doing something very very wrong.

What he is doing wrong is not living in a wasteland flipping burgers

Good thing I'm not either. However I'm able to max my 401k, max my IRA (can't do Roth), go on a week long vacation every year (this year cruise to Belize), and get a new car every 3 years. So I guess I'm not poor and whiney. Just lazy.
