That thread featured some of my best work. -
People that read all this doog-colored glasses bullshit deserve to read 500 pages of shit.GrundleStiltzkin said:

Stop with the whole latent racist ish or thought “moms with there hands out”,” coaches with there hands out” you sound like Doogman sound like Kim. Are moms over protective yes, that’s if the kid is an athlete or not but 99% of moms are only worried about their kid. I’m sure your wife is overprotective of your kids. It’s called nature. There are coaches with there hand out but that’s few and far between most coaches/advisors has been with the kid before anyone has ever thought of him. Think harder don’t fall into basic tropes. “Moms with there hands out” Get out of here!RoadDawg55 said:
I think a lot of coaches believe the next guy on the list is just as good. That leads to less effort. And it’s not hard to get why coaches hate recruiting. You are a grown man talking and trying to relate with teenagers, their over protective mom with her hand out, their shady uncle, his high school position coach bothering you to talk at his youth ministry, etc.Neighbor2972 said:I'm with BTP that it's not hard to be a good recruiter. Being a really elite recruiter probably requires some unique skills, but being a good recruiter just comes down to effort.
I think there's just a lot of coaches who do not want to put in the effort, and/or they do not believe that getting marginally better recruits is as important as it is.

You’ve been watching the news too much. The lint was that it’s easy to understand why Bob Gregory probably doesn’t enjoy recruiting.ATLDawg said:

I agree to a point but life is sales, are there annoying parts to it yes but the reward typically out weighs the pain especially if your competitive. I just don’t like the bullshit tropes, essentially giving him an excuse. Because that’s not reality. Do your jobRoadDawg55 said:

Agree that it’s a big part of the job and if someone isn’t performing they have to go. Part of that is dealing with bullshit that you don’t want to deal with, but have to in order to field the best team possible.ATLDawg said:

No excuses will be made by me. The expectation is to win and compete for natties. I don’t care how that gets done. -
I just tried. I speed scanned from page 45 or so up to about 60. Couldnt take any more and skipped to page 74.GrundleStiltzkin said:

Fuck this board, fuck this hobby, fuck Oregon, fuck Jimmy, fuck...everything.
Oh and fuck JCduck most of all. I never liked him or valued anything he had to say at dm.com. it was always obvious he was subtle flaming UW. I figured it was because he was a JC guy and didnt like UW for not recruiting the guys he promoted. All the JCduck insults thrown at him there seemed petty and off the mark. Guess I was wrong. What a fucking weirdo. -

Ektard says today UW is no longer in consideration. 81% chance he completely made up the previous comment about them being in the lead with UCLA.bananasnblondes said:Eklund is hearing UW is back in it for Calvert and is co-leading with UCLA. Says Calvert is the only ILB UW is still recruiting

Taking only 1 ILB who has serious academic and athletic red flags couldn't possibly backfire.

I'm old enough to remember doogin over possibly having the best LB class of all time just a year ago. Keith Brown (FSP), Calvert (big bro on the squad), Simon (local), Latu (local).... All high 4 stars.
Not quite the result I was looking for. -
We were never in on Calvert. Maybe a sympathy/courtesy virtual hat on the table for his older brother. That's it.
-
Each year of the Pete era there seemed to be more and more UW targets whose recruitment by UW was strange and made no sense. This year seems to be going for the all-time record of weird recruitments.
-
Has he committed yet?Baseman said:We were never in on Calvert. Maybe a sympathy/courtesy virtual hat on the table for his older brother. That's it.

Retaining Bob Gregory was absolutely the right move... Definitely the decision a competent head coach would make.

As a side note most people that follow recruiting routinely overrate connections to out of state recruits like FSP, siblings, former teammates, or high school coach.
All those connections do is get you in the door. There is still a high chance with any highly recruited kid not from Washington that they just aren’t interested in UW.
And even if they are interested we would still have to out recruit USC, Oregon, SEC, etc. which only happened with any significant frequency in 2018 and 2019 in the many years since I’ve been following recruiting. -
True. But I was thinking with FSP, a bro, and two local recruits we’d at worst be happy with the result. Then I remembered bob was recruiting and well... not so muchFremontTroll said:

Does bobby g ever go to bed thinking "I'm a shitty recruiter"?
No
He thinks "how can I get the most out of kyler manu?.... Hmmnnn ...." -
Can’t help but laugh at Bobby Gregory trying to recruit
-
Fuck Jimmy Lake for not firing him when he had the chance. Beta pussy. We’re fucked.

Utah... CB’s all over.
Bob needs to get the type of covid you don’t walk away from. -
He just committed to Utah. Wow! Not sure how usc fucked that up.
-
Telling the kid from Bethel he wasn't good enough for them was the right move
-
Letting Utah get Calvert and Clark Phillips is pathetic
