Wild guess, that 60k number includes debt.

Thank you to all the conservatives making a great case for welfare. Poor people don’t have it that bad in America because welfare lifts them out of poverty. Great point. Let’s make sure all poor people have access to it.

Welfare needs to be more efficient

    Kind of sucks now
In theory I’d be on board with that. My concern is that you can hide behind “more efficient” when you really just want cuts.
Having been in touch with the system more recently than anyone here my motives are pure

We could pay people more and probably get cuts too

But we need to get more cash in the hands of people that need it
What about replacing welfare programs with universal basic income?
That's the right idea. Sometimes just a well placed check for a couple grand will get someone who is working through a tough time or until they get another job

Universal income sounds permanent to me. Unemployment covered everything but the rent which we got from family. And I was clean and sober for 6 months for the first time since I was 14. Couldn't afford it.

I had a landlord that worked with me after I went back to work

One size doesn't fit all. I like the micro fund approach to actually help people

After going through a few hoops for a couple hundred bucks a month I walked away and said fuck it.

We need to write checks and save on the overhead and give people a hand. If they abuse it fuck them but don't go in assuming they will

    We?
    We're all Americans Mike
But how do “we” pay people more? Are you upping your pay for workers tomorrow?
    Not talking about jobs

But we pay 25 an hour minimum

Let me get this straight. You are complaining about food stamps (Or whatever welfare you are referring to here) being to hard to get?

The chart explains that you’re a lying dumbfuck?

Oh and Mr. reading comprehension the numbers where never for an individual or a “person” they were always for a family of four. And your claim was that the “system” makes the poor poorer, not that they are “encouraged” to stay poor or that the don’t have the ability to build wealth you lying worthless piece of shit.

That chart explains exactly what I'm talking about. (The chart where it shows you make over a certain income and you lose benefits so you can't afford to make that much money). Yet you clearly can't even discuss that point or make sense of it in relation to keeping the poor people poor. I said it, and you can't see anything other than I'm wrong. Even when it's right in front of you.

I’m more than happy to discuss the fact that you put your head up you ass and have been dancing like a fucking jackass ever since. There is no “system” in this country that makes poor people poorer.

Yet you see it right in that chart.

If there were no welfare "system" would the poor person have more or less money Hondo? Mother of 3, minimum wage job earning $25K a year. According to you the "system" makes them poorer. While the reality is that the assistance they get from the "system" gives them the purchasing power of someone earning $60k a year. You're talking straight your ass and you been lying your ass off in this thread for two days now.

The chart doesn't say that the "system" makes anyone poor you lying sack of shit.

It's an opinion article in the politics section. That being said. I still disagree that the average person making $25k spends $60k. That's not even close to reality
