This is where we get into the weird worship of capitalism. It has to be unquestioned. We can’t even think about making our country better because we must worship at the alter of capitalism. Term limits are fucking retarded. If somebody is good at their job, and the voters want them there enough to re-elect them, then so be it. Second-term presidents are lame ducks because members of Congress know they'll be there after he/she's out. Why make last-term congressmen lame ducks too? The threat/prospect of re-election is an important element of politics.
We have regular elections. We can impose term limits on anybody whom we see as not up to the job, or there's somebody better. Competitive redistricting and campaign finance reform are much more effective ways of prompting legislators to behave better.
