Soooooooooo ... you're saying Washington had a chance?PostGameOrangeSlices said:greenblood said:
Is not being worked up more than just stating a simple fact. You made the playoffs, but let's be honest, Washington was not competitive against Alabama. A team can run rough shot throughout the Pac 12 conference with top 25 recruiting classes, but it's not going to win the title without special talent.PostGameOrangeSlices said:greenblood said:
If you are satisfied with PAC 12 titles and constantly getting outclassed in the college playoff then you are correct. But you aren't a serious natty contender without a top 10 class. You will not compete with the Alabama's, Ohio State's, and Clemson's of the world. Look no further than Eugene. Oregon played for two National Titles, and were physically destroyed in both. They almost lucked into a title against Auburn, but then got assaulted on live TV against Ohio State.PostGameOrangeSlices said:Who gives a fuck what the class ranking is? Other than the idiots on this board. Get promising recruits in positions of need and coach then up...hopefully they won't see the field until their RS-Sophomore year.
UW is never going to consistently finish Top 10 and it doesn't need to in order to compete.
We had a solid run and made the fucking playoff with a bunch of borderline top 25 classes.
Our most recent class was #13ish (yeah ESPN is retarded) and everyone here was in hysterics with how good it was.
You fucking idiots are missing the point, like usual. UW has a big time uphill battle with the recruiting service rankings, and frankly we should be just fine with a bunch of classes similar to the 2018 class. Yeah maybe some classes are better, but some will be worse too. Until we win a fucking natty or have 5 years of NY6 bowls in a row that is going to be reality.
Getting players like Rapp, Gaskin, Sid Jones, Gaines, etc. doesnt boost the fucking class rankings, but those are elite players that this program needs to get. Pretty much the only position groups we need to get better at recruiting to win are on offense, OL and WR.
But by all means keep getting all worked up about the decisions of 16 and 17 year old kids. Dumbasses.
Washington was more than good enough on defense to beat Bama and win a title. Our offense did NOTHING for 3 quarters and the defense still held up fairly well despite being hung out to dry constantly.
A better offensive line and a better QB and UW has a real chance of winning that game and the title. UW has recruited some good QBs, but the WR stockpile had a few years of meh recruiting which might hurt us this year. The O-Line still needs 4 star depth.
So yes, UW was not ready to compete with Bama across the board, but the UW 3 star defense was more than ready.
As others have brought up, yes we need better players, but demanding top 10 recruiting classes and saying it's the only way to a natty is naive. -
PGOS is right about the D being good enough vs Bama. They got Kiffin fired.

So you agree we need to keep recruiting really well... I am very confused. What exactly are you getting all worked up over? Good to see we are on the same page!PostGameOrangeSlices said:greenblood said:

And this is exactly why paying attention to these rankings is a doog thing to doNorwegianHusky said:
Except Rapp is most of ours favorite recruit of the last few years and he was a three star. A lot of people here had Dom Hampton as a 4/5-star even though he was rated a 3-star. But sure.PostGameOrangeSlices said:dawgs206 said:

This roster was capable of beating all of those teams with a change in offensive coordinator/philosophy.
You retards wouldn't have even offered 3 star Myles Gaskin a scholarship -
This board makes our own rankings!!!KobeStan said:

My overall point is that recruiting rankings are FS -

Jesus, this entire thread has been fucktarded. The TBSers here could give a fuck about a player's rank, that's what happens on Doogman. We care about is that we're missing out on great fucking players like Charbonnet.
Pete takes 3 stars and develops them, cool. Finding diamonds in the rough that turn into starters is a great story, but you need to stack legitimate talent to have the depth to compete at the highest level. That's not the argument. The argument is why the fuck are we? missing out on players that are talented that we? should conceivably had a great shot at getting.
To say that we only care about the rankings is so fucking stupid I can't even comprehend it. If that was the case, why do we all have mega boners for #615 Troy Fautanu, #681 Treven Ma'ae, #401 Sama Pa'ama, NOT RANKED Alphonzo Tuputala, #374 Kamren Fabiculanan, or #311 Asa Turner.
It just so happens that the majority of elite players are also ranked correctly, so the teams that land them end up being high in the recruiting rankings, and in a weird fucking coincidence, tend to be the most dominant teams each year.
It's not that fucking hard. -
