That coach was the biggest asshole I’ve ever seen. I get that part of his plan was to harden them up here so they are disciplined enough for college, but Jesus playing for him ooked like absolutely zero fun.

He started out in Kenmore, WA, and now he’s in Kansas at Independence CC holding 21 offers.
Quentin Moore has seen his football career come full circle in the past two years, and today he was on the UW campus while home for spring break, and the “dream” came true.
“Coach Cato and I have been talking for awhile now”, the 6-5, 250 tight end told Realdawg.com, “I told him I would come and visit U-dub (unofficially) when I get home for spring break…I’d have to set it up for Thursday. So I went over there today and did the whole tour and I loved it. Then I went to Coach Lake’s office.”
And the offer was made, “This is my mom’s dream come true, she started crying”, Moore said of his mother, Sarah, “It almost made me tear up.”
The Huskies kept an eye on Moore back when he was in high school, but at that time it wasn’t going to happen because Moore still had some hurdles to climb over, “I didn’t think school was important”, he said, adding that his coach was always telling him that talent alone wasn’t going to get him to the next level.
Now, he’s kicked that stone out of his path and is doing extremely well in junior college, “I’ll be ready to graduate next December”, he said.
Moore will three to play two once he gets on the field at what ever school he chooses, but Washington is right up there now that they’ve offered.
“Oh yes”, he said when asked if he’s seriously considering his hometown school now, “I still want to ride it out and see what’s going to happen.”
On the field Moore is a play-maker. He knows what to do and does it with ease on the field in terms of his routes, balance, being able to catch in stride and knock guys out of the way in the process.
And one thing that he’s become astute at since being in college is blocking, “Before I came to Independence I really didn’t know much (about blocking)”, Moore said, adding that he’s been coached up for blocking the past two years, “Last season I was the best blocking tight end on the team.”
This is truly a story about a young man who was determined to fight for what he wanted — and he has won that fight.
Moore plans to take a couple more unofficial visits and probably (atleast) a couple of official trips before making a decision.
Considering our misses recruiting TE's the last two years, getting Moore is a must for our TE depth
He’s really good too. His HS film was great. Kid is a very good athlete and should be a complete TE. Redman, Otton (if he returns), and him would give us elite TE talent. Seems like we have a really good shot at him too. This is the type of change from Pete to Lake that we needed.

Petersen took two transfer QBs, one from JC. He took a transfer DT, a transfer punter, a transfer CB, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting. He also offered many players late only after they got their academics together. If they qualified and seemed dedicated enough to school to stick, he'd offer. I think Lake offering one JC tight end and calling it something different than what Petersen did is reaching for a narrative at this point. If this starts happening many times per year, I'll start to agree.
This guy didn't get an offer when he was an academic risk, got his shit together, then got an offer. That sounds exactly like Petersen's MO.

That is not many transfers over six years. And especially low JC numbers. I doubt Nik Little and Tony Rodriguez were even at JC due to grades they probably didn’t have D1 offers. Those were weird offers to fill spots.
Who was the transfer DT? I can only think of Bronson but he walked on.
Going after a JC guy month two on the job is an indication of a different approach.

The DT is Bronson. Didn't realize he's a walk-on. Still, I think--at this point at least--this is more of a perfect storm that just happened to take place early in Lake's tenure: In-state kid, stud athlete, non-qualifier, gets his shit together in JC, gets offer. If you're suggesting Petersen wouldn't have also offered with the state that the tight end room is in (which is the argument being made when using this particular case to define a difference in recruiting strategy), bridges to sell you, yadda yadda.
Lake may end up being very different than Petersen when it comes to recruiting transfers. There is little reason to believe this particular case is evidence of that. Petersen would have greenlit this offer as well.
I lean towards @1to392831weretaken's side on this. This is a kid a bunch of our coaches followed on Twitter. We were interested. We didn't offer because grades. He's gotten it together. I think Pete likely would have offered but that's impossible to say for sure. @sonics1993 can probably shed some real light on this, the rest of us are just speculating.

There were quite a few transfer or jc kids that we recruited out of high school under CP and didn’t bother with the second time around. Even at positions of need.
