This is what reminds me of Sark. Start off in a blaze of glory but trail in star ratings. By LOI day that top ten class would be closer to 20 and worse with average rating.YellowSnow said:
Agree with Waffle and Gladstone here and have a hard time envisioning Coach T getting them back to the promised land circa 2009- 14, but as one who isn't that much into the TBS part of this, was curious if we? should be concerned yet at this juncture- i.e, #4 ranked class with 16 recruits thus far (our star rating per kid is higher, however).CuntWaffle said:LIPO. Right now Taggart is taking the Sark recruiting approach by offering anyone and everyone rated by a recruiting site a scholarship. Except he doesn't have to deal with 0-12!!1
I think Taggart will have a Sark type career at Oregon. He will recruit above average but people will make it seem like he's killing it, he will lose games he shouldn't and beat some overrated ranked teams to keep his job longer than he should.
Not saying that is the case at Oregon this year so don't twist. Just saying it looks familiar.
Taggert can lose to us? 34 -17 (rather easily) and the quooks would gush over the massive improvement from 70-21.
Or he could win in Seattle and we? break the internet
But still. -
Admit it - you are just a little nervous that the shit show down there might not last as long as you were hoping.RaceBannon said:So
Oregon is BACK?
I just didn't think it would happen so soon
Oh well ... you'll? always have pretend elite academis. -
The cute Cuban can coach. He has Cane blood in his veins. Winning is inevitable.backthepack said:
They can't coach.YellowSnow said:Serious question on this for @CokeGreaterThanPepsi and @Dennis_DeYoung. Is Taggart and company over or underperforming in recruiting thus far based on your initial expectations? We knew that he was assembling a crack team of ace recruiters, but at first glance it seems they are doing very well for a program that experience an epic regression since being in the NT game. What is your level of concern?

Nope the script has only ever called for UCLA to be soft and overrated.oregonblitzkrieg said:
Sorta like the script in 2014 where UCLA was supposed to beat Oregon instead of Oregon rampaging through the conference, right?RaceBannon said:

This is what I mean. You assume a lot of shit about Pete you probably don't quite know. Maybe it's because he looks and sounds like the kind of guy who has credibility to you. It doesn't mean shit when it comes to this business. You also assume a lot of shit about Willie, who just got to this conference 5 minutes ago. I have no experience, and I strongly suspect you don't either, to substantiate your "likely" scenarios.
I also have a hard time believing that Pete somehow knows how to read the academic issues better than most of other Pac 12 coaches. Pete is not recruiting to Stanford. That is a different animal altogether. Quit trying to act like the situations are even remotely similar. Fuck you guys have a man-crush on this dude, and it's so fucking predictable. None of these arguments would be made if he weren't winning.
If Pete needs someone and is convinced the kid is an elite talent, he'll go after him and make it work. If he chooses to not make it work, I would better guess it has to do with easier or better alternatives. I'm guessing the same is true at Oregon and with us? at WSU.
There is a bigger academic profile difference between UW and UCLA than there is between UW and Oregon or WSU. If UCLA can get a dummy, UW can get a dummy.
If we're just talking about handicapping some kid's odds of qualifying, I'm pretty sure you? don't have the only coach outside of Palo Alto who knows how to do it.
