If we can't get/keep talent like Smalls from our own backyard during 10+ win seasons and conference titles being stacked up then there is no chance of UW ever reaching the elite tier of programs. Pete is the perfect fit for coaching here and winning, but the reasons that UW likes him are also the reasons that he won't adapt his philosophy.
And the liberal upper campus will never bring in the mercenaries needed to take that final step.
Feels like this is the peak for the program and we'll have to be happy with 10 win seasons and NY6 bowl losses as the high water mark. -
