Through my deep Vancouver roots I've been able to get some insider info on this kid.

Per a family member, his dream offer is UCLA, and he will commit on the spot if given one.

Also apparently holds several different black belts so that's cool too

Chip Kelly hates crootin. So he’ll end up a cuog

I'm sure whoever we end up with as our corner will be great, not really worried that Jimmy won't be able to get someone. It just annoys me that we make such a big deal about only giving instate kids committable offers yet we back off Darien Chase who seems like a perfect 'OKG' by all accounts. You could say that he 'waited too long' but neither Turner or Williams are corners, and its not like McDuffie is a UW silent commit.

What's the point of waiting so long to offer Gee/Rodgers/Hector if we are willing to back off guys like Chase?

Wouldn't surprise me if we don't take another DB. We only have about 6 spots left in this class. 5 if Bandes jumps on board on Friday. We are stacked at DB.

Losing a ton of DB's this class though.

    I think we take 4.
We should get chase to commit then. Unless we are expecting a flip from someone else. he is the best available.

Big question is if Joyner leaves early. He was too inconsistent at outside corner last year to warrant a draft pick, maybe he'll do better at safety this season

That would be great news if he's switching to safety. Much more natural position for him.

I don't think he leaves early.

Rapp will. Murphy probably will. And Miller and JoJo exhaust their eligibility.

And for the unlikely event Murphy or (somehow) Rapp return, you have the possibility of Joyner.

We're likely losing 4. I'd think we take 4 to replace them.

He was very good at corner.

I hope he's our starting nickel. Best secondary in the nation if he is.

I thought he was a very average corner. Nowhere near Miller or Murphy. He would be a much better player facing the ball rather than turning away from the QB. Plus he's a hitter which gives him way more impact from the safety spot rather than the corner. Think Molden would be a better slot cover guy too. I'm no Jojo fan at free safety. I'd put Joyner there over him in a second.

I think he was underrated at CB last year due to a game or two where he got burned a couple times. But according to this stat he was pretty damn solid at CB
    Exactly

yeah he was pretty good but i think he'd be rapp level at safety

He can cover for a safety, but would not trust him as full time CB not sure he has the concentration for it. His technique against cal last year was fucking unreal. There is a reason Lake is the best in the business.
  • whuggywhuggy Member Posts: 2,088
Until he fixes the ultimate flaw in technique which is not getting your head turned around when the ball is in the air then I'm not buying it. If he fixes that then you got something. Until then I want to see him at FS watching the QB and delivering hits.

Every football coach at Union High in Camas is a huge Oregon Duck fan. Not good.

We got a kid from West Linn whose dad is Alex Molden and coach is Chris Miller. If CP can poach that kid....we can poach anybody.
